Hello,
does everybody have a query to delete devices on the SQL-Server? LDM Version 8.7 SP4 and SP5. Or is their a technical problem to delete devices form outside the console?
Thanks
Ralf
I'm so new for LDMS and i've some question that if clients have changed their ip address, how the core server can scan the inventory or to contact these clients again?
thank you.
Good day.
You will excuse, my language am limited.
My problem: the "inventory scan" worked is not correct.
Starting from the console of "inventory scan" causes appearance in the window of " Alert History" message about the error.
"LDISCN32: Error in secure data transport"
The same error returns start string "LDISCN32.EXE /L /F /SYNC /V " at the working station.
First time "inventory scan" sometimes passes normally. Subsequently workstation data do not change.
Another time the data about the station are minimum (TCP/IP address, ComputerName and 4-5 fields) and also they do not change
Core Server: Win2003En, LDMS 8.7 SP6 (Firewall: Off)
WS: WinXP SP2 (Firewall: Off)
With the respect, Dmitriy
Hello,
I have read the document http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1177#
Here is explained how do an inventory scanning without install the Agent for a windows machine.
Is it possible scan an Unix machine without Unix Agent installation ?
Thanks all.

I am looking for some information on the "Last Hardware Scan Date", "Last Software Scan Date", " Last Updated by Inventory Server", and "Last Update Scan Date".
I need to know if the agent does a delta scan, and there are no changes in the hrdward or software, does either of these two dates get updated?
What is the "Last Update Scan Date" and "Last Updated by Inventory Server"?
I have some computers in inventory that have old hardware and software dates, but a receint Last Updated by Inventory Server date. I know that I can run a full inventory scan for clients that have older hardware/software scan dates, but ned to know what function/process updates the Last update scan date and last inventory server?
Thanks for any help you cangive me.
Hello all,
I know this has been discussed to some extent already, but what I am trying to do seems to vary a bit from what others have wanted. Here is a brief overview of what I am trying to do.
My overall objective is to collect a list of trusted sites that a given user has entered into their IE settings on their machines.
From what I can see, the registry keys reside under here. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains
So, I originally tried the LDMS client. It is great if I simply wanted to read actual values from a given key. The problem with it is that IE seems to generate subkeys with data contained within. So under the "domains" key it contains another key for "msn.com" "google.com" etc. (examples)
I then figured I need something to enumerate the keys contained within the domain key to grab all the data. I cannot see a built in feature to do that in the LDMS_client or in LANDesk, so I wrote a script to do so.
I have my script set to grab this data and throw it into a .dat file to look like this:
Internet Explorer - Trusted Sites - msn.com
Internet Explorer - Trusted Sites - google.com
I modeled it after how the "findpst" script that I think I found on droppedpackets.org generates the data. When I run that, it creates a "email" sub category and data within from a dat file modeled like this:
Email - PST Files - Personal Folders(1) - File Location = c:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\personal folders(1).pst
For some reason, when I run mine though, the inventory scanner comes up with an error "invalid data"
Here are my questions,
1. is there something I am missing with the above method to get this data entered into inventory?
2. Is there a better way that you guys might know of to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi,
We need to find how many installations of SQL Servers we have in the organization.
I have created a query to find the following:
Computer.Software.Add or remove Programs.Program.Name = Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 or 2008
Query returns all server have these installations but on many of them, there is no SQL Management studio installed but only the SQL tools.
For example, attached is a screenshot of a server that has only the SQL Server configuration manager installed but in the Add remove programs, the SQL Server 2008 R2 seems to be installed.
Is there any way to find what we want?
It is for licensing purposes in order to specify if there is need to purchace more SQL licenses.
Thanks in advance,
Nikos
My queries are not showing the most current data that is in the general device information. Some queries are even displaying results with machines that have been deleted from inventory.
I've run coredbutil and dbrepair, restarted services, etc., and the odd data still shows. Where is the query getting the data?
Hi,
there is a Inventory Property - "Computer"."Mass Storage"."Drive Encryption"."Recovery Key"
Unfortunatelly the Inventory Information is not populated by the inventory scanner.
Some of the other informations are collected by the Scanner:
So my question is, is there a build in support for reading out the Recovery Key to this Inventory field or do I have to run additional scripts for populating this Inventory Entry?
Thank you, Marco
I have heard / seen a couple of mentions of the attached Network Printers now being available in Inventory, but am not sure where to find them in the inventory window. Any ideas where I should look? do i need to enable anything special on my Inventory settings?
Thanks!
Hi,
I am trying to figure out a way to write a SQL query to the Landesk database to provide all the information found in the dbo.Computer table along with the OS.
Does anyone have a snippit of SQL that I can run to get this information? The idea is for me to create a web front-end for other departments in IT to query asset inventory information from a custom web application. I just don't know where the OS info is stored. I would imagine there will be some joins to other tables.
Any help would be appreciated.
So I have just run a report that lists all "physically connected" printers on my network and I have two fast questions regarding the results:
1. If a printer is "unplugged" from a computer but it remains installed on the device will it still show in this inventory?
2. If the above answer is no, how long does it take for a disconnected printer to fall out of inventory?
Thanks!

We just upgraded our core from 8.7 SP5 to 8.8 SP2. I'm going through the process of updating all the agents to the new version but I've run into a snag. On a certain model of laptop (HP 6735b) the inventory scanner crashes on the hardware scanning portion and causes a Dr Watson intervention. This doesn't happen on any of our other computers but this is the only one with an AMD SATA controller. The reason I think it has to do with the SATA controller is because if I add the "/NOATA" switch to LDISCN32.EXE then it doesn't crash. We didn't have this problem with the 8.7 SP5 agent.
I looked at the dump file and according to the stack trace it looks like it is crashing after the command "LDISCN32!ApplyPatch". I'm pretty familiar with debugging these type of things but I'm not a developer so I could be wrong. I could post the analysis or send someone the heap dump file if they want to look at it.
Anyway my question is has anyone else seen this problem? Or does anyone know how to add the "/NOATA" switch to the inventory scanner for these computers? We just have it scheduled in the agent to run every 24 hours. So we don't have a script telling it to run and we are not running it at startup. Or maybe some more information on what exactly the "/NOATA" switch does so I can narrow down whether it is the controller or not.
Thanks in advance!
I've seen a few discussions and documents relating to inventory scanning for a specific file, but I haven't found how to make Landesk list the path for that file. What I'm looking to do is see where on the computer a file--alttiff.ocx--is located (or if it exists at all). Any tips on how to do this? Our machines are all communicating through management gateway, so I can't just push out scripts or whatnot to them.
This morning we were notified that a virtual server received a software installation. The machine was targeted because it listed as "Type=Virtual Machine". Other servers that were stood up around the same time by our server farm team all report as "Type=Virtual Server". Even the icons are different (server vs machine).
My question now is "how does the inventory scan determine device type" and how can I correct the current listing? The virtual server in question is running "Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Server Standard Edition (full installation), 64-bit".
These servers are all runing a "Windows Server Config" agent, so we're trying to determine (on our end) how they even got this software deployment....FUN!
Hi,
I have lot of error scan files under core\ldmain\ldscan\errorscan.
Do I need worry about that??

How can I fix this issue??

Hello,
I have such messages for about 8 / 10 times for one day.
I know it is a notification about the fact that the Delta scan has not been received correctly.
Can i do something to force only on some of these computers (i know which one are concerned) always a full scan to be done every day and not a Delta.
Thanks a lot.
Has anyone encountered this? I installed 8.7 SP6 and now on my core, the LANDesk Inventory Server Service is stopping about 8-10 times a day. I also am seeing this in the event (application) logs:
Source: LANDesk Inventory Serv
Event ID: 4100
Type: Error
Database exception:
SCA3C60.SCN
LDInv.dll
-2147467259
Unspecified error
Table:Product Column:Definition ID PK:HK6s4I+p2BMolwQ/AXgliQ==
Thread ID: 6068.
Thanks you all for the help!
