Service account temp internet files growing by 20GB per day

Anyone else seen this. We use a service account for LANDesk and that account on our core has begun amassing 20GB+ of data in it's temporary internet folder every day.

I have to reboot the server into safe mode to kill all the stuff in there because it's being used by another task.

 

Any ideas what might be causing this?

I am trying to rollup 2 cores to a third rollup server. I am able to roll up the first one OK, but on the second core, I receive the error listed below.I have verified that all three Datamart.xml files are the same on all three cores.

Can someone help point me to a fix for this error?

 

Running LD 8.8 SP3.

Unable to run a query for IE 7

Hi,

 

I am trying to create a query on Landesk which can pull all the machines in the network that has IE 6 and 7 installed. However I am not able to find IE 6 or 7 listed under application suite ( to create the query > from the left pane) , so that I can create a logic for query.

Most probably it is happening because IE does not get installed seperately and is a part of OS installation. so is there any other way to find out the report or run the query for IE 6 or 7?

Inventory data for is out of sync. A full scan will be forced.

Hello,

 

I have such messages for about 8 / 10 times for one day.

 

I know it is a notification about the fact that the Delta scan has not been received correctly.

 

Can i do something to force only on some of these computers (i know which one are concerned) always a full scan to be done every day and not a Delta.

Compare Filed with Dates / Add Custom Data Filed for Date In the User Form?

Dear All,

 

We are trying to Deploy the LANDesk Management Solution in our Environment.

 

1. We have installed LANDesk Management Suite

2. We have created the Custom Data fileds for Warranty Start and End Date.

3. When we are entering dates, those are getting recognized as notmal String.

 

Q1. Can we have Calender in place of Normal Text Box in User Form?.

Q2. OR/If not, can we run query like, :

     The machines which are having "Warranty End Date" filed in between 01.01.2010 and 31.12.2011?

We just upgraded ot LDMS version 9.5.  In LDMS 9.0 I could find the version of IE on each machine querying Inventory, Custom Data, Internet Explorer.

Any idea how to query IE versions in 9.5?

Suspending Scans for a period of time

Hello All,

 

I have recently become an administrator over my companies LANDesk environment.  I'm looking to see if there is a way to stop all scans for a group of computers for a brief period of time within the 9.0 SP2 environment.

 

I have a high volume of network traffic hitting a specific group of computers which will be maximizing local resources.  During this time I would like to suspend any LANDesk related scans (be it vuln or inventory scans, etc.) and am not sure how to go about doing this.

 

Can anyone recommend a particular section within the manual or any articles regarding this subject matter?  I'm having no luck finding the information myself.

How to monitor software installs for Employees with local admin access

Hey all,

 

Hoping someone might be able to help or provide some previous experience, possible options or thoughts about how this can be achieved.

 

To date in our environment we have been able to limit adminstration rights to just IT employees. However, we now have a group of software developers that require being added to the local administrators group on the laptop that they use.

 

The solution is for perhaps over 100 employees, so i am looking for an automated way to report on this.

 

So is it possible to run a report in LANDesk to see what applications have been installed on all machines where the user is in the local admin group, over the past 30 days??

 

Im not looking for a report that would just show software installs over the past 30 days per machine, as i would have to run this report over 100 times. Just not practical, Something more automated?

 

Is this possible in LANDesk?

 

Anyone had experience of allowing employees local admin access and monitoring the software that they have installed?


Duplicate devices showing - Attributes are identical yet aren't deleted

Hi,

 

I have an issue where machines are displaying in the All Devices window twice - They have the same Device Name, MAC address, serial number, last inventory scan time and date.  They are the same machine.

 

If I manually delete one, it returns.

 

The duplicate device task within Services is set to delete on Device Name and MAC address (defaults) but this isn't working.

 

I cant see why....

I don't want to add it to 'MultimediaExtensions'

I have a file which call ldiscn32.log in the directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\DATA. The size off this

file is 220M.

It's the right size.

Inconsistent Managed Device Inventory Field Data

At the moment, I'm running LDMS 9.5 managing two US locations.  All machines in one of the locations are on our domain and there are 250 machines of the other location that are not on our domain (yet).  I've created a query which displays fields for Qualified Login Name, Workgroup membership, LDAP Groups-Machine-DisplayName, Display Name which is redundant, pc Model, and last Hardware Scan Date.  The inconsistent data is for those machines which have scanned and reported back today that have no Workgroup or LDAP Group data (see screenshot). Visually, I am concluding that since the Login name is not a domain login, that the machine is not on the domain but this inconsistency will throw off data in my reports.  Of the total 622 machines reporting in this query 35 have no Workgroup or Name/DisplayName data.  And all but 2 of the 35 have the newest 9.5 Agent.  Any clues as to why/how these machines aren't reporting these fields?

Using CSVImport to Add Custom Data to a Managed Device's Inventory Data

I'm trying to add Custom Data to the Inventory Database using CSVImport for an already discovered device, but all the information that I can find about CSVImport only pertains to using it to add a new device.

 

 

- Would it be possible to use CSVImport to add a Custom Data from a .csv file to the Invetory Data, assuming that I have a unique identifier and the custom data I want to add?

 

 

- If so, how would I ammend the template and .csv file entries to search for the existing DeviceName and add the additional Custom Data to that Managed Device's existing Inventory Data?

Custom registry items not showing up in the inventory

We are running LD 9.5 SP1.  When I go to Manage Software List and add a registry item for detecting the version of Office 365 inventory scans do not return the reg key value.  Below is how I have the registry item setup

 

Root Key: HKLM

Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook

Value: Bitness

Attribute Name: Software - Add or Remove Programs - Program - Microsoft Office 365 - Bitness

 

The Key name is Bitness, it has a value that reflects whether office is 32 or 64 bit.  The new path shows up in my query options but no values are showing up for that attribute.  The new path is not showing on the inventory window when I inspect a device though.

Starting to work with Customer Forms...

I've just created my first custom form.  Nothing complicated, for the moment it's just for the Department & Location.

 

What I had in mind was just us here in IT using it, say when we prepare a PC for delivery.  Before we take it out, we add it to the LD db.  I was thinking that after we get it into the LD db, we could crank up the form.  I would prefer...to not have to have the end user be bothered answering any questions.  But if I read the manual correctly, it doesn't appear that this is possible.  So...

 

Can someone please tell me if this is possible, and if so, how I'd go about setting it up?  If it is not possible, any suggestions for some sort of work-around?

Inventory Scan Not Updating Login Name at Logon

I recently came up with a solution to pre-install LD in our VM View workstation images. I have always had an issue with this, but it has become more important with this new implementation. I have the View LD agent setup to do an inventory scan (with 0 randomization) at logon and IP change. After logon I am not seeing "Login Name" update with the current logged on user. Why does this happen, how do I fix it?

Preface: I'm new to landesk so take it easy on me but please let me know if there are easier ways to do what I'm trying to do

 

I have multiple cores in my environment and I recently tried to migrate a couple hundred servers from one core to another by pushing a new Server Agent Configuration. The majority seem to have worked but there are several that have not reported their inventory scans to the new core.

 

After connecting to one of the failed machines I tried to run this to get a full scan uploaded to the core:

LDISCN32.EXE" /NTT=core.domain:5007 /RSS /F /S= /I=core.domain HTTP://core.domain/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /V /sync

 

In the ldiscn32.log file I see the following error:

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

 

The scan does end up going to the new core but ends up under the ldscan\ErrorScan directory.

 

Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Hi,

 

Using scopes in LDMS 9 can help us a lot for RBA

I have applied scopes using a LDAP query. (per OU in Active Directory)

But apparently, the scope isn't updating instantly when objects are moved from OU (in Active Directory).

 

How can a scope refresh been forced, or where can the refresh time be configured in LDMS 9?

Automatically Delete old Computers

So I have been wondering for a while now why I have so many old devices showing up in my inventory. According to this doc (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1188) The "Days to keep inventory scans" is supposed to take care of this, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have mine set to 30 days, but I have machines showing up in inventory with Last Hardware Scan Date of over 6 months ago. Why is this not working or how do I get it to work? Thanks.
