Duplicate devices showing - Attributes are identical yet aren't deleted

Hi,

 

I have an issue where machines are displaying in the All Devices window twice - They have the same Device Name, MAC address, serial number, last inventory scan time and date.  They are the same machine.

 

If I manually delete one, it returns.

 

The duplicate device task within Services is set to delete on Device Name and MAC address (defaults) but this isn't working.

 

I cant see why....

Suspending Scans for a period of time

Hello All,

 

I have recently become an administrator over my companies LANDesk environment.  I'm looking to see if there is a way to stop all scans for a group of computers for a brief period of time within the 9.0 SP2 environment.

 

I have a high volume of network traffic hitting a specific group of computers which will be maximizing local resources.  During this time I would like to suspend any LANDesk related scans (be it vuln or inventory scans, etc.) and am not sure how to go about doing this.

 

Can anyone recommend a particular section within the manual or any articles regarding this subject matter?  I'm having no luck finding the information myself.

Is there a document explaining the command line switches for LDISCN32.exe?  I can do a "/?" but it doesn't explain what  "/O /T /Q" do.

Please explain the Inventory process and how to troubleshoot it?

 

We were trying to use LanDesk 8.8 SP2 to query for Trend OfficeScan.  We were installing updates and wanted to know how many were left.

 

Well, my computer DEFINITELY has the new version, but the inventory doesn't find my computer.  The query is accurate, because it finds others with the same version.

 

I went and did a manual inventory on my machine, but it still doesn't show up in the query.

 

So now I am not trusting the inventory!

 

I have 666 in total machines, with over 100 (from what I can see) reporting incorrectly.

 

How do I find out what's wrong?

Compare Filed with Dates / Add Custom Data Filed for Date In the User Form?

Dear All,

 

We are trying to Deploy the LANDesk Management Solution in our Environment.

 

1. We have installed LANDesk Management Suite

2. We have created the Custom Data fileds for Warranty Start and End Date.

3. When we are entering dates, those are getting recognized as notmal String.

 

Q1. Can we have Calender in place of Normal Text Box in User Form?.

Q2. OR/If not, can we run query like, :

     The machines which are having "Warranty End Date" filed in between 01.01.2010 and 31.12.2011?

Hi

 

Apologies for what might be a very simple question...

 

I am having issues with a number of devices not updating in the inventory. I have tried running a manual run of of LDISCN32.exe with the switches /F /L /V (i a have also tried various other swithces) but i can see no evidence of a log file or error report? also I can see no evidence of the scan file being passed back to the server. I am sure I'm just not looking in the right plave for error logging?

 

On a seperate note these devices do not apply policy, when process runs it identifies a policy is required but does not execute its application. See attached image.

Query for different versions of Internet Explorer

I've read the past threads on this, what few there were, but was unable to locate an answer that worked.

 

When I attempt to query for IE versions, Utilizing the Custom Data, or the Product/Name functions, I get a jumbled response.  It brings back pretty much everything in the computer software inventory.

 

I need to be able to differiniate between IE 7 and IE 8 but can not get it to run correctly and bring back what i am asking it for.  I can get it to bring back 8 only. but not 7 and 8 nor, more perfably, everything but 8.

 

After establishing the quert to bring back the above, I would tack on it further statements that will bring it back for a particular subnet as well.  I've managed to do this for other programs, such as Lotus and Adobe, but IE isnt' performing the same... I must assume this is because it's imbedded into the OS correct?

 

Thanks for any help you can provide scripting the correct logic for this function. 

How to force an inventory scan on PC's which have been off for many weeks?

Here is my dilemma.  I have 5000 PC’s, which for the most part have been off for roughly 70 days.  Now that they are being turned back on, the IP addresses of the PC’s are not matching what’s in LANDesk.  Therefore, packages fail when being pushed out (a different agent responded).  To make this situation a bit crazier and because of login slowness, the inventory scan was removed from startup.  So, the only way to run an inventory scan is manually or if I am thinking correctly by re-pushing the client to all computers.

 

My question is.  Is there a way to simple force a scan on all computers, regardless if their IP address matches?   Perhaps using agent discovery?

Capturing Applications and Services Event Viewer Logs With LANDesk

I would like to have the ability to capture logs under "Applications and Services Logs" in the event viewer using LANDesk.  More specifically Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > Offline Files > SyncLog.  From what I can tell only "Windows Logs" are currently being captured and put into inventory.  Does anyone know if this it is possible to add these to inventory?  We are trying to find computers that have sync issues by using a query and/or if possible send alerts from alerting.

Guys,

 

I'm looking to create a custom script which I can schedule manually on any computers that fail to meet our current naming conventions (they have changed recently to use the serial number).  I have a vbscript that does this using netdom and by reading the bios serial number, fairly new to LANDesk so looking for some advice on how best to achieve this?

Query for Internet Explorer 9

Hello,

 

Not sure if I am missing something but when I create a query for Internet Explorer 9 I can't find an entry.  Also when I create one for IE8 I only get XP computers with IR installed.  I suspect this is because for 8, it's a core part of the Win 7 OS?

 

Any advice is appreciated.

9.6 Not Displaying Last Scanned Data in All Devices View

Performed the Upgrade to 9.6.

 

The All Devices view is no longer showing any data for columns besides the IP address. It does display properly in the Mobile and Computers view.

How do we get the full information to show up? The All Devices view is important for me.

Adding to my earlier note: agent version stays the same but just shows a new config date? That somehow doesn't make sense.

Rollup Core

LANDesk Community,

 

What is a rollup core?  I have thouroughly searched the community site and the internet for a good description of the advantages of using a rollup core, but i can't find anything.  Can someone provide a good link to a whitepaper to describe what the benefit is?

Last Software Scan Date is NOT updating

I have an issue where several thousand machines are not updating their Last Software Scan Date value after a full scan is performed.

 

Using a LANDesk script to force a full scan, the following command runs:

 

REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\LDISCN32.EXE<qt/> /NTT=%server%:5007 /S="%server%" /I=HTTP://%server%/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /NOUI /NOCD /F /SYNC

 

On almost 4000 machines, 3500 report as successfully scanned.

 

When I run a report or a query on LAST Software Scan Date - the date does not change and remains between 10 and 30 days ago. Other "Last scanned" fields update with the current date.

 

 

1. Why is this date field not updating?

 

2. Can I be reasonably sure that Software scans are not occuring?

 

3. What can I do to make sure that software scans are occuring and that the date field gets updated?

Inventory Not Updating

This one is puzzling and making me a bit nuts! So appreciate any insights.

 

We are running 9.02.03.  I have over 1000 client machines with agents pushed to them. The agent is configured for inventory scans once a day however over time, what I see in the list of devices is that the computer last scanned field ages too much. What I should see when I list the computers is the current date or yesterday, as long as the PC was online on the network.

 

In other words, it appears that they are either not checking in or the scan is not run. Eventually, I end up having to reinstall the agent to bring everything up to date. It doesn't happen on all machines, but a pretty a fair percentage of them. So someplace I've got something messed up but I'm not sure what.

 

Ideas?
