Query for Internet Explorer 9

Hello,

Not sure if I am missing something but when I create a query for Internet Explorer 9 I can't find an entry.  Also when I create one for IE8 I only get XP computers with IR installed.  I suspect this is because for 8, it's a core part of the Win 7 OS?

Any advice is appreciated.

Is there a way to query a file with a specific hash key ?

We have packged an application using another packaging utillity. This utillity redirects the application to a key server. We are trying to find which customers have these "Keyed" applications and schedule an uninstall. I was able to download an application that showed me the hash file values and I know they are different from the original and consistent across the board.

I would like to Scan all the PC's for the executable file with the exact hash key for the keyed version. Is there anyway to accomplish this?

Console performance issues in 9.5 after opening inventory of some devices

$

Hi all,

We have performance issues if we select the inventory of some devices in our environment. I found out the longer the patch history of a device, the longer the loading times. Since 9.5 there is a new section in the inventory called "Security - Patch history". From my opinion this is absolutely useless data because it’s the same data as seen under "Security and Patch Information - Clean/ Repair History" but in a unreadable format.

For some devices we have waiting times about 10 minutes until the console responses again. If you clear the Patch history by "Purge History" or by SQL the Inventory opens as fast as desired.

Did anyone else have these issues too?

It would be great if it would be possible to exclude the Patch History in the inventory tree or an automatic clean patch history after "x" days task; maybe someone from LANDesk has an idea how to achieve this.

By the way, I already had a case open with support but because it seems that we are the only one with this issue at the moment, they couldn't really help me out here...

Thanks and kind Regards

Christian

Service Tags not Merging

Hi,

We recently set up our 9.5 Core with Data Analytics and with the help of LANDesk we were able to import our WASP inventory into LANDesk. The WASP inventory shows the service tags and the string used is Computer.System.Serial Number

The issue we are having is that we now have moved over almost 1500 pc's from our old core after importing the wasp inventory and the devices are not merging. It is my understanding that when we installed an agent on a device it would then merge the WASP import and the device.

For Example

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advanced.

Cant see a device in all devices

Hi Guys,

I installed new 9.5 core server and now im trying to migrate clients from old 9.0 core server to it.

Im redeploying agents from new core server to all devices. So far everything worked like charm.

Now I found a device that I sucessfully deployed agent to but that device do not apear in all devices list.

Im able to connect to it using remote control.

I was also able to run manual security and inventory scan from the device. I saw that this device was communicating with right core during this scan but It didnt apear in the list.

(no error on client during scan)

I tired to completely remove - reinstall the agent but behaviour of this device is still the same.

Core server and the device are on the same network. All firewalls are dissabled.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem ?

Thanks

Client Does not update the ldappl3.ini though changes are made available to clients

Landesk Management Suite 8.8 Sp2 8.80.0.249

Updated ldappl3.template

make available to clients

ldappl3.ini updates properly on the core server however the clients never see the change.

Verified Agent Configuration is set to Automatically update via http.

Verified the contents of the ldappl files on the web page http://servername/ldlogon

tried: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-6320

If I re-install the client it put in the correct ldapp3.ini and reports the new custom data that is configured in the ldappl3.ini will show in inventory. However if I force a new scan it overrites the ldappl3.ini and will remove the data the next time it scans in.

At a total loss. I was 1st in Queue to get through but now am 2nd!

Any help would be appreciated

Hi There,

Please can you sched some light on the primary owner field in the inventory of the device. I would like to know who is the primary owner of the device.

A scenario could be seen as: - Bearing in mind we have set Primary Owner on the Configure Services to 5

I login to my device, i become the primary owner. The next time and engineer is working on my PC, he logs in say 5 times. He becomes the primary owner. At what time do i become the primary owner again ?

And what can influence this, eg: Agent configurations etc ?

Thanks,

Mark.

LoginName on Windows 7 64-bit

Is anyone else having problems with the Inventory Scanner incorrectly reporting LoginName on 64-bit Windows 7?  I think I figured out why this is happening, but when I checked this forum to see if anyone else reported the problem I can't find any posts.

It seems the Inventory Scanner is reporting the contents of

     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\DefaultUserName

which isn't used by Windows 7/64.

I found some postings on the Internet which suggest using this regkey instead:

     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\LastLoggedOnUser

I've opened a support case, but I'm still looking for confirmation that I'm right, so that this is treated as a bug.

Find SQL Server installations

$

Hi,

We need to find how many installations of SQL Servers we have in the organization.

I have created a query to find the following:

Computer.Software.Add or remove Programs.Program.Name = Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 or 2008

Query returns all server have these installations but on many of them, there is no SQL Management studio installed but only the SQL tools.

For example, attached is a screenshot of a server that has only the SQL Server configuration manager installed but in the Add remove programs, the SQL Server 2008 R2 seems to be installed.

Is there any way to find what we want?

It is for licensing purposes in order to specify if there is need to purchace more SQL licenses.

Thanks in advance,

Nikos

Query for different versions of Internet Explorer

$

I've read the past threads on this, what few there were, but was unable to locate an answer that worked.

When I attempt to query for IE versions, Utilizing the Custom Data, or the Product/Name functions, I get a jumbled response.  It brings back pretty much everything in the computer software inventory.

I need to be able to differiniate between IE 7 and IE 8 but can not get it to run correctly and bring back what i am asking it for.  I can get it to bring back 8 only. but not 7 and 8 nor, more perfably, everything but 8.

After establishing the quert to bring back the above, I would tack on it further statements that will bring it back for a particular subnet as well.  I've managed to do this for other programs, such as Lotus and Adobe, but IE isnt' performing the same... I must assume this is because it's imbedded into the OS correct?

Thanks for any help you can provide scripting the correct logic for this function.

How to force an inventory scan on PC's which have been off for many weeks?

$

Here is my dilemma.  I have 5000 PC’s, which for the most part have been off for roughly 70 days.  Now that they are being turned back on, the IP addresses of the PC’s are not matching what’s in LANDesk.  Therefore, packages fail when being pushed out (a different agent responded).  To make this situation a bit crazier and because of login slowness, the inventory scan was removed from startup.  So, the only way to run an inventory scan is manually or if I am thinking correctly by re-pushing the client to all computers.

My question is.  Is there a way to simple force a scan on all computers, regardless if their IP address matches?   Perhaps using agent discovery?

Thanks

Inventory scan will not complete with Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 10.0 installed.

We have upgraded from LDMS 9.0 SP3 to 9.5 an now we are unable to successfully run LDISCN32.EXE

The inventory scan worked, sends its data to the core server, but the UI doesn't close and the .exe stays active.

This happens only on Windows XP x32 & x64 Devices.

If we uninstall Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, the inventory scan completes without issues

We also have excluded the LDClient directory in Sophos Endpoint Security and Control but the inventory scan still hangs.

Older LANDesk clients (9.00.0.473) do not experience the problem.

Update: We also have installed the following Patch:

CR51091-95 - Inventory - Ldiscn32 hangs due to a memory leak in ldavhlpr.dll which can occur when scanning with various anti-virus applications on Win XP (LDMS 9.5 only)

The issue is still there. LDISCN32.exe stays active.

cannot run Inventory and Vulscan on Client.

I have been working on the our new landesk core server 9.5 for almost 3 days to get the inventory and vulscan running on the client.

Currently I have already 5000+ client on this core. The problem is that I cannot when I run Inventory it displays an error message that LDSCN32.exe, the inventory Server did not responds. even though the service is running on the core server. I have even tried all the resolution found over the net to check if port 5007. Run Telnet, uninstall and reinstall inventory server but still got same error.

while the vulscan Just keep on looking for an update on the core server.

One thing have notice on the new core is that most of the files on the LDLogon directory was missing, I have idea on what had happen that those files were deleted. when I have check the recycle found no deleted files.

I could still login to the management suite application and do thing like create agent, create queries, policies,

Is there a solution to get this working?

Any suggestions or help would highly be appreciated...

Thanks...

Full sync vs. Hardware/Software scans

What is the difference between these types of scan?

I have a workstation whose inventory is off a bit and I think it's messing with SLM.

Under Software --> Products there is an entry for Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Premium (9.0)

but...

Under Software --> Add Remove Programs --> Product there is no entry for Office 2000.

I have verified that the machine does not have Office 2000 installed. (It's uninstalled when we installed Office 2007.)

I ran a hardware/software scan and nothing changed. (I checked the ErrorScan directory and there is nothing there from today so the scan was successfully imported.)

Then I ran a full sync scan and the entry for Office 2000 under Software --> Products is gone.

I recently migrated from 9.0 SP3 to 9.5 and pushed out a new agent (this workstation has the latest agent.)

Right now I can't trust the inventory. Is this behavior normal?

What can I do to make scans as accurate as possible in regards to installed software?

Query to find out .NetFramework installed

I have created a query that selects a group of machines by model and by login user. Out of those machines I wold like to create a report to show the .Netframework installed. I have noticed that the majority of the devices have .NetFramework 2.0 but there are other ones that have different one. I have selected certain colums to show what I need but only .Netframework 2.0 show in the report because that is what I have chosen. What do I need to do to show version of .Netframework.

Thanks in advance!

Add entire registry key to inventory - not just single value

$

Hello.

Is it possible to add an entire registry key to the inventory instead of just a single value?

Example:

Today I have the following in my LdAppl3.ini file which is working:

;Some data to determine if a machine needs to be rebooted

KEY=HKLM, SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager, PendingFileRenameOperations, Custom Data - Security Scan - Pending File Rename

But I'd also like to add the "VulscanReboot" information since it's my experience that the "PendingFileRenameOperations" is not as reliable in Windows Server 2008 as in 2003. My problem is that "VulscanReboot" is a key with dynamic values below that that are named after the patch that requieres a reboot so I don't relly know the name of that value.

I've tried to add the following, but none of them seems to work.

KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\VulscanReboot, , Custom Data - Security Scan - VulscanReboot

KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\VulscanReboot, ? , Custom Data - Security Scan - VulscanReboot

KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\VulscanReboot, * , Custom Data - Security Scan - VulscanReboot

I'm using the /O parameter to save the inventory scan to a local file so I can see what it submits to the CORE, so it's not a matter of making the change available or allowing an unknown item because it's not even in the local file

Thanks in advance.

/Michael
