I am trying to rollup 2 cores to a third rollup server. I am able to roll up the first one OK, but on the second core, I receive the error listed below.I have verified that all three Datamart.xml files are the same on all three cores.

Can someone help point me to a fix for this error?

What gives?

I've tried the stop inventory service - dbrepair - coredbutil - start inventory service, but this persists.

Examining the table (dbo.Computer SWLastScanDate column shows it is not a PK. Is it supposed to be?

Inventory Server service crashes (LANDesk 9.0 SP2)

I just started running into a problem on our LANDesk 9.0 SP2 console (all current MCP patches)

The LANDsk Inventory Server service has crashed twice in the last 6 days and I am not able to restart the service without rebooting the LANDesk Console.  I know the inventory server service used to crash frequently on our old 8.8 console but this is the first time that I've seen it crash on our 9.0 SP2 console and require the console to be rebooted.

Any suggestions on where I can look to troubleshoot this?   Is the incoming scan causing it to crash or is it losing connection to the SQL server?  Attached portions of ldiscn32.log and ldinv32.log

How to force an inventory scan on PC's which have been off for many weeks?

$

0

Here is my dilemma.  I have 5000 PC’s, which for the most part have been off for roughly 70 days.  Now that they are being turned back on, the IP addresses of the PC’s are not matching what’s in LANDesk.  Therefore, packages fail when being pushed out (a different agent responded).  To make this situation a bit crazier and because of login slowness, the inventory scan was removed from startup.  So, the only way to run an inventory scan is manually or if I am thinking correctly by re-pushing the client to all computers.

My question is.  Is there a way to simple force a scan on all computers, regardless if their IP address matches?   Perhaps using agent discovery?

Thanks

Full sync vs. Hardware/Software scans

What is the difference between these types of scan?

I have a workstation whose inventory is off a bit and I think it's messing with SLM.

Under Software --> Products there is an entry for Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Premium (9.0)

but...

Under Software --> Add Remove Programs --> Product there is no entry for Office 2000.

I have verified that the machine does not have Office 2000 installed. (It's uninstalled when we installed Office 2007.)

I ran a hardware/software scan and nothing changed. (I checked the ErrorScan directory and there is nothing there from today so the scan was successfully imported.)

Then I ran a full sync scan and the entry for Office 2000 under Software --> Products is gone.

I recently migrated from 9.0 SP3 to 9.5 and pushed out a new agent (this workstation has the latest agent.)

Right now I can't trust the inventory. Is this behavior normal?

What can I do to make scans as accurate as possible in regards to installed software?

Suspending Scans for a period of time

Hello All,

I have recently become an administrator over my companies LANDesk environment.  I'm looking to see if there is a way to stop all scans for a group of computers for a brief period of time within the 9.0 SP2 environment.

I have a high volume of network traffic hitting a specific group of computers which will be maximizing local resources.  During this time I would like to suspend any LANDesk related scans (be it vuln or inventory scans, etc.) and am not sure how to go about doing this.

Can anyone recommend a particular section within the manual or any articles regarding this subject matter?  I'm having no luck finding the information myself.

Thanks in advance.

Where is the version of Internet Explorer reported.

We just upgraded ot LDMS version 9.5.  In LDMS 9.0 I could find the version of IE on each machine querying Inventory, Custom Data, Internet Explorer.

Any idea how to query IE versions in 9.5?

I don't think this is possible since logging in does not trigger a mini scan but is there a way to see a list of everyone that has ever logged into a machine?

Inventory Scans Stopped Processing

The inventory scans stopped processing on several computers.  I noticed the D:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldscan directory is full of inventory scan files that have not processed since 5:45 AM this morning.  I have restarted the “LANDesk Inventory server” service and that did not seem to fix the issue.  I noticed the error below in the applications logs.  I was thinking about trying the recommendation in the following article. http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-2173

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Inventory scan isn't updating Custom Data values

Last week I added some Custom Data fields (registry values for Java Update info).  After the inventory scan, the values showed up for the machines (JavaRT & Policy)

Untitled.png

Over the weekend I ran a job to update the registry enties to what we require and inventory got updated as picture above.   However, upon reboot, the registry entries reset to the original values (that;s a different can of worms).

The Inventory has not reverted even with a FULL SYCN SCAN.   If I use REGEDIT on the machine the values are different then the LDMS Inventory.

At this point I can't trust the Custom Data I have in inventory.

How can I get this corrected?

I'm running LDMS 9.0, SP3.

Thanks for your help.

How can i query users by what their first name starts with?

I'm setting up my patch process.  I have a static group of machines for my initial patch testing.  I'd like to set up a 20% Pilot group, but don't want to be dealing with keeping it up to date, nor do i want my IT team to have to refer to a list to see if a user is part of the pilot group or not.

I want to select 20% by creating a query that returns all users with a first name that starts with a letter between A and J.  This will give me 20% of our environment that is pretty much random.  It's also easy for the IT team to remember that if a person's first name is between A and J then they are piloting patches.

How can i do this?

Add Defrag & Chkdsk data to Inventory?

$

Hi all

We're in the process of rolling out Checkpoint Full Disk Encryption (FDE) software to our firm's laptops.  One of the advised pre-requirements is to run a chkdsk and defrag.  If chkdsk reveals bad sectors we may need to run "chkdsk /F" and/or replace the hard drive(s) depending on the extent of the problem before installing FDE.  We have used the following LANDesk custom scripts to run a chkdsk and defrag and pipe logfiles to a server share for analysis:-

[MACHINES]
remexec0= chkdsk>\\server\share\CheckPoint\Chkdsk\Logfiles\%computername%.log

[MACHINES]
remexec0= defrag c: >\\server\share\Defrag\Analysis\%computername%.log

This is fine in principle but we will have hundreds of logfiles to manually look through for chkdsk "bad sectors" and defrag "status".

Is there a way either to:-

1) Collate the .LOG files into a Logfile Analyser utility (I tried Splunk but seemed over-complicated for our needs)?  Is AutoIT an option here and if so how please?

2) Run the LANDesk custom scripts on a machine then merge data from the .LOG file into the machine's LANDesk Inventory so that we can query/report on the results (this would be ideal!)?

We have searched the net but cannot find a way of doing this.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Scott

Problem with LDISCN32: The inventory server did not respond

$

Hello,

Recently I have discovered that few machines within my LDMS 9 SP1 @ W2K3 SP2 inventory can't upload their hardware / software scans. When I'm trying to run a HW scan manually from one of the affected clients, I'm getting "LDISCN32: The inventory server CORE did not respond" error.

I can successfully telnet to 5007, so it seems not a connectivity problem. Vulnerability scan works fine. All other PCs are doing well

What did I already try:

- Checked all Windows logs - nothing seems wrong, they're "all blue",

- LDISCN32.LOG contains few lines only: "Wed, 25 Aug 2010 16:17:26 Unable to add total cpu utilization counter.  Will not be monitoring CPU utilization. -1073738824"

Any hints...?

Thx, Piotr

Query for different versions of Internet Explorer

$

I've read the past threads on this, what few there were, but was unable to locate an answer that worked.

When I attempt to query for IE versions, Utilizing the Custom Data, or the Product/Name functions, I get a jumbled response.  It brings back pretty much everything in the computer software inventory.

I need to be able to differiniate between IE 7 and IE 8 but can not get it to run correctly and bring back what i am asking it for.  I can get it to bring back 8 only. but not 7 and 8 nor, more perfably, everything but 8.

After establishing the quert to bring back the above, I would tack on it further statements that will bring it back for a particular subnet as well.  I've managed to do this for other programs, such as Lotus and Adobe, but IE isnt' performing the same... I must assume this is because it's imbedded into the OS correct?

Thanks for any help you can provide scripting the correct logic for this function.

Inventory History - Recent user list, login logout.

$

I know LDMS stores the most recent top X logged in users to estimate the primary owner.  It's been a while since I've had to fiddle with this..  Anyhow, on to the question: I need to keep track of all login and log out times.  (at least login).

I currently have Invenotry History set with a check in the box to track login name.  I had only the Event viewer one checked at first and I found it to be inaccurate.  Now, I've checked Inventory as well.  I read the help file but I am unable to figure out where this is logged? What is the best way to track user login and (hopefully) logout times?.  Why cant I find any information in inventory since I checked the box? Also it would be nice to even track locking the PC.

I know this is tracked in Power Management. Ultimately, I am looking to see what times users logged in to their PC, Locked their PC, and/or logged out of their PC? Any suggestions?

Oh, and since I know LDMS monitors and evaluates the last X logins to establish the primary user, is there anywhere I can VIEW these last x logon names? (and dates)

Thanks all. Rich S.

Get Windows Scheduled Tasks in Inventory

Has anyone come up with a solution for getting the Windows Scheduled Tasks in Inventory?  I am pretty sure it could be done with the combination of ldscnhlp.ini, schtasks.exe, and some script to generate a data file in the format LANDesk understands.  Before I tackle this, I thought it would be good to check if anyone has already done it.
