Inventory Scans not processing after upgrade from 9.0 SP4 to 9.5 SP2

After upgrading from 9.0 SP4 to 9.5 SP2 our processing of inventory scans has slowed down to almost nothing.  Restarting the inventory service will give a momentary jump to it but then it slows down again.  I have tried messing with the settings in the Configure->Services section but nothing appears to make a difference.

Both the resource monitors on the core server and database server are showing hardly any load.  Right now the ldscan folder is 2K scans and 5 hours behind which we obviously won't be able to accept.  At the moment the client agents themselves are still running 9.0 SP4 agents but I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

Anybody have suggestions?

Is there a way to store custom data in custom fields and be able to import/manipulate it via 32-bit console?

We would like to use LANDESK to track all our IT assets.  Custom data such as what cost center or PO number it was purchased form is important to us.  Is there a way to create a custom field in LANDESK and import this information in via the 32-bit LANDESK console?  Is there a role-based administration attribute that I can set, so only authorized personnel can manipulate this inventory data from their 32-bit console?

Another scenario would be -- we have field service vehicles assigned with a laptop, we would like to take our spreadsheet of what vehicle (license plate) is assigned with what laptop (host name) and dump it into the LANDESK database, and be able to view/edit it via the 32-bit console if at all possible?

Thanks!

Inventory Scans Stopped Processing

The inventory scans stopped processing on several computers.  I noticed the D:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldscan directory is full of inventory scan files that have not processed since 5:45 AM this morning.  I have restarted the “LANDesk Inventory server” service and that did not seem to fix the issue.  I noticed the error below in the applications logs.  I was thinking about trying the recommendation in the following article. http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-2173

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Fixed Hard Drive Serial Number is incorrect

To whom it may concerns,

There is a fixed hard drive serial number incorrect situation. We found several customer machines which installed LDMS 9.5 SP3 got this problem.  Please see the image file serialnumber2.png, This pic was captured this machine inventory tree, and the hard drive serial number is incorrect. But if see the image file named serialnumber1.png. This pic was captured from the machine powershell command line. and it did returned the correct hard drive serial number. I have checked the workaround solution from https://community.landesk.com/support/docs/32711. But I hope this problem can be fixed future.

PC Model information

Hello:

I have a handful of workstations that either have no PC model information or inncorrect model information.  That is, the inventory field Computer.Model is either blank or has bad info (i.e., a Dell Latitude (laptop) reporting itself as a Dimension (not a laptop).  After doing some looking through the inventory I realized that another inventory field, Computer.System.Model, contains the correct information.

The only place on the actual machines, or in Active Directory that I find the model information is in the BIOS - this seems to be where Computer.System.Model is getting its info.  I confirmed on the test machines that I can easily access that WMI reports itself OK - this seems to be borne out by the correct information (including serial numbers) that is found under Computer.System.*.

Where is Computer.Model pulling its information?  Why is it accurate for about 90+% of the machines, but not on others?

Thanks for your help.

Bitlocker Recovery Key in Inventory

Hi,

there is a Inventory Property - "Computer"."Mass Storage"."Drive Encryption"."Recovery Key"

2017-05-23 18_34_57-LANDESK® Management Console.png

Unfortunatelly the Inventory Information is not populated by the inventory scanner.

Some of the other informations are collected by the Scanner:

2017-05-23 18_36_34-Inventory - wuta-edv5761.png

So my question is, is there a build in support for reading out the Recovery Key to this Inventory field or do I have to run additional scripts for populating this Inventory Entry?

Thank you, Marco

Mapped Drives

Hi All

Is there a way of using LANDesk to find out what drives a user has mapped, and what the share name is?  I did see one document that wanted me to change the ldappl3.template file with a load of HKEY references. Is this the only way?

Am using LANDesk 9 - inventory and reporting are not my greatest assets (OSD is my area), so please be patient with me!

Thanks

Windows 2003 with SP1 (CHS)

SQL 2005 express (CHS)

LANDESK Management Suit 8.7 with SP4

We have both Japanese and Chinese clients install the LDMS client, the inventory information from Japanese client returns unreadable characters.

Especially software suit information show unreadable character that seems LANDESK Inventroy scan does not support the dual-character set?

Any one got this problem or any idea about this?

Create exclusion query

I'm hoping there is a solution ot my question.  Currently, when I want to distribute software to my computers, I create a query to determine which computers need the software.  Generally, there are 20 or so that for one reason or another won't be getting the program installed.  Basically what I've been doing is this:

If SOFTWARE doesn't exist, AND computer name <> X, AND computer name <> Y, AND computer name <> Z.....  (twenty times).

I guess I'm asking if there is a better way to do this?  Can I have task that installs to one query (group of machines) but exclude a subset?

Thanks.

Find SQL Server installations

Hi,

We need to find how many installations of SQL Servers we have in the organization.

I have created a query to find the following:

Computer.Software.Add or remove Programs.Program.Name = Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 or 2008

Query returns all server have these installations but on many of them, there is no SQL Management studio installed but only the SQL tools.

For example, attached is a screenshot of a server that has only the SQL Server configuration manager installed but in the Add remove programs, the SQL Server 2008 R2 seems to be installed.

Is there any way to find what we want?

It is for licensing purposes in order to specify if there is need to purchace more SQL licenses.

Thanks in advance,

Nikos

Inventory missing some items

LD 9.5 no SP1

As I look through my Console I keep seeing computers (small percentage) that have certain things missing for instance the model number, or windows version, provisioned column blank, etc and everything else is there.

When I look in inventory these items are missing from there.

1. In troubleshooting I deleted the test computer from the console then ran a full inventory scan, didn't help

2. went into \program files\landesk\ldclient\data and deleted the LDAPPL3.ini file and ran a full inventory scan, didn't help.

3. Did a remoteregistry and deleted the Landesk unique ID in both places, then ran a full scan, didn't help

Also all these computers have the same os (win 7 32bit), same model, as computers that are fine.

Any suggestions?

I'm looking through the inventory of the windows 10 machine and I can't find any item that identifies the build number, is that not in the inventory scans? if not can it be added as a custom field?

How do I use a sql query as landesk query?

Hi,

I would like to create LANDesk queries based on information from a different SQL Database. The SQL Query works after configuring linked server in SQL and so on.

In this Doc http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-5789 it's mentioned how it's possible to view SQL statements from Queries created through LANDesk. It also mentions that you can't just change the 'QuerySQL' Filed with a random query (I missed that part when I first read it) but there's got to be a way.

Has anybody done it?

Remove LANDesk computer objects

$

I am working on trying to ensure my LANDesk database stays in sync with my Active Directory computer objects. Currently our process for retiring machines requires the technicians to delete the Active Directory computer object, and then go into LANDesk and remove the associated computer object.

I know that you can set the server to automatically delete objects after x days, but due to our installation being very new and our management gateway not being completely configured, we don't want to delete LANDesk computer objects that might still be active machines, but just don't connect to our VPN consistently enough to do an inventory scan.

Is possible that when we delete the active directory object, that a maintenance task simply scans Active Directory to retrieve the current list of computers, then compares it to the inventories in the database and deletes machines that don't have an Active Directory computer object? I am guessing that a script would work for this task, but if it is possible without having to script something, that would be even better.
