LDISCN32.exe

Hi

Apologies for what might be a very simple question...

I am having issues with a number of devices not updating in the inventory. I have tried running a manual run of of LDISCN32.exe with the switches /F /L /V (i a have also tried various other swithces) but i can see no evidence of a log file or error report? also I can see no evidence of the scan file being passed back to the server. I am sure I'm just not looking in the right plave for error logging?

On a seperate note these devices do not apply policy, when process runs it identifies a policy is required but does not execute its application. See attached image.

Thanks in advance

Security Update for Microsoft Windows not showing in inventory

I have a Window 10 client (1607) that has the patch for wannacrypt installed (KB4013429) along with a number of other patches.  KB4013429 was installed 4/5/2017.  However, inventory just shows 5 updates installed and KB4013429 is not one of them.  I'm trying to scan for how many machines are patched.  There are other machines that do report that patch installed.

I've tried running full sync scans from the console end, running inventory from the client end, re-installing the client, deleting the client from the console and again re-installing the client with the same results.  Inventory\Name\OS\Updates\updates still only shows 5 installed updates.

Last Software Scan Date and Last Updated by Inventory Scanner all show today's date and the time is just after client installation

LD version is 9.60.2.48

Patch was originally installed through our WSUS server

Exporting and Importing LANDesk users

Anyone know of a tool or way to do this? I have alot of users to migrate over to a new core server...

I was hoping to export them but it does not seem possible. It will Export a Sys file but not an ldms file so nothing can be imported to the new core..

We are going from a 9.5 core to a 2016.3.

Any ideas?

Real time license usage

Hello Guys,

Is it possible to monitor with LDMS the real time license usage?

I mean the following:

The customer has 5x AutoCAD network license. It means 5 concurrent usage. If the 6th user would like to run AutoCAD (but can’t because to pool is full) is it possible to run query or something else to define on which machines AutoCAD.exe is running at that moment? (so IT guys would be able to ask the users to switch off if they are currently not working with the app.)

Thanks!

Inventory scan failed :ldiscn32: the inventory server "XXX" did not respond

Recently  we are facing issue with inventory scans not working on most of new client machines. We are able to successfully push the Landesk inventory agent  to a new PC. It seems to install fine but the PC is still sitting in Pending Unmanaged Client Deployment. It fails when sending scan results to the core server. When I tried to run a inventory scan manually ,it fails and displays the below error.

Inventory Services seem to be up and running within the PC and core server.
I can telnet from the PC to the core with ports 5007.
Windows firewall is disabled.

Appreciate your timely help and support on this

Next, I havent configured anything under cloud services appliances, does it have anything do with this inventory scan fail?

Can I create just Custom Data Form fields at the inventory without asking user to input the answer?

Dear All,

Can I create just Custom Data Form fields at the inventory without asking user to input the answer?

What I would like to do is just to create those additional attribute at the inventory of the machine and have the LDMS admin input it instead of asking the users to do so. It is because I would like to store purchasing information which is not avilable to the end users. And at the same time, those purchasing information cannot be detected from the machines itself too.

Thanks and regards,

Winnie

How can I create a query to show all client with 64 bit OS?

I want to create a inventory query to show all client with 64 bit OS, but I can not found any data in our inventory to tell whether the OS is 32 bit or 64 bit.

Does anybody know how to do that?

Query builder - Reverse sort-order?

$

Hello, I have a (maybe stupid) question about building a query via 32-bit console:

When I expand the SELECT COLUMNS and add the items I want to include in my query, I can specify which Machine Component to sort the query results by.  However, it sorts them in 0-9/A-Z which is fine most of the time, but I want this particular query to sort in REVERSE order.  Is this possible?

Basically, I have created a custom inventory extender, and because not all machines have run the script yet, when I run my query on that new data, the Sort Order organizes all the machines WITHOUT any data to the top, and all the machines with data to the bottom.  I just want to reverse that.

Thanks!

Problem with LDISCN32: The inventory server did not respond

Hello,

Recently I have discovered that few machines within my LDMS 9 SP1 @ W2K3 SP2 inventory can't upload their hardware / software scans. When I'm trying to run a HW scan manually from one of the affected clients, I'm getting "LDISCN32: The inventory server CORE did not respond" error.

I can successfully telnet to 5007, so it seems not a connectivity problem. Vulnerability scan works fine. All other PCs are doing well

What did I already try:

- Checked all Windows logs - nothing seems wrong, they're "all blue",

- LDISCN32.LOG contains few lines only: "Wed, 25 Aug 2010 16:17:26 Unable to add total cpu utilization counter.  Will not be monitoring CPU utilization. -1073738824"

Any hints...?

Thx, Piotr

Inventory Server Did Not Respond

Having an odd issue. On newly imaged devices (Lenovo x220), we install the Advanced Agent (9.0sp2) via group policy. After the client is installed, scans will not run. We get "the Inventory Server 'Core Server FQDN' did not respond". From the same machine we can ping the core by the FQDN and the core is processing all other scans just fine. The machine is part of a domain (different than the core) and we've tested with the machine not in a domain with the same issues. Even stranger, if we leave the machine(s) on for the day, and come back in the a.m., the scans ALL work, no issues. No change to the device/core, nothing.  The issue is primarily happening on a single image for these x220's, and can't determine what might be blocking communication with the core. The firewall service is disabled on the client. No AV installed on the client at the time. Thinking it's something in the image or that the LANDesk client is not installing properly on this image. However, why it works the day/hours after the client install is still a mystery.

Additional Info:

I just tried the inventory scan using the Core Server Name instead of the FQDN and the scan worked. Both the server name and FQDN are resolvable by the client.

Any thoughts?

Inventory Scan Scheduling

Hello,

I have created an Agent Configuration Windows with 1 Day frequency scanning (Every day at 18:00).

I have installed 5 days ago the Agent, but I have seen, on Core Server,  that the last scanning date is 5 days ago.

It seems that the scheduling doesn't start every day at 18:00.

How Can I verify it ?

Is it possible change the scheduling scanning Agent side ?

Thank you.

Andrea.

Device not showing discovery status

Hoping someone can help me figure this one out.  I have a device, my PC, that I have lost 'connectivity' to from within the console.  The inventory and security scans are processing whenever they're run but when the discovery is done to see if it's connected or not, it flashes the blue "?" mark and then never returns the status.

I've tried removing the agent completely and re-isntalling several times.  I've turned the firewall off to see if something happened there.  Update the NIC drivers.  Made sure the "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users" is in the "Users" group and that the our Scheduler account is in the Administrators group...just in case.  I've deleted the device from Inventory and ran full scans and made sure everything populated.  I can ping the PC from the core and other PCs.

Any thoughts?  What am I missing?  Nothing has changed...at least that I'm aware of.

Thanks,

Scott

Cant see a device in all devices

Hi Guys,

I installed new 9.5 core server and now im trying to migrate clients from old 9.0 core server to it.

Im redeploying agents from new core server to all devices. So far everything worked like charm.

Now I found a device that I sucessfully deployed agent to but that device do not apear in all devices list.

Im able to connect to it using remote control.

I was also able to run manual security and inventory scan from the device. I saw that this device was communicating with right core during this scan but It didnt apear in the list.

(no error on client during scan)

I tired to completely remove - reinstall the agent but behaviour of this device is still the same.

Core server and the device are on the same network. All firewalls are dissabled.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem ?

Thanks

Need Help Creating Query to Find Computers Without Updated Program

$

Hi everyone,

I'm fresh to operating LANdesk and myself and others in our staff are really racking our brains about how to resolve this. So, being a total n00b, I'll try to explain this as best possible. And please be simple in response! (Anyone have a LANdesk for dummies?)

I'm trying to create a query to find computers that do not have a specific version of a program installed. I figured the simple answer is to just use "not exist" and the title/version of the program I'm looking for.But that doesn't seem to work like that. I can't effectively do a search of all previous versions, because the program can run the new version with or without the old version. We need to find what PC's do not have the program installed so we can make sure to get the program pushed out or get to it by foot.

Thanks!

Fixed Hard Drive Serial Number is incorrect

To whom it may concerns,

There is a fixed hard drive serial number incorrect situation. We found several customer machines which installed LDMS 9.5 SP3 got this problem.  Please see the image file serialnumber2.png, This pic was captured this machine inventory tree, and the hard drive serial number is incorrect. But if see the image file named serialnumber1.png. This pic was captured from the machine powershell command line. and it did returned the correct hard drive serial number. I have checked the workaround solution from https://community.landesk.com/support/docs/32711. But I hope this problem can be fixed future.

Inventory Scanner crashing

Hello all,

I've got a group of devices in LANDesk with a recurring inventory scan crash condition. Whenever the inventory scanner is run, it will crash within 5-10 seconds of opening.

Running with the /debug flag doesn't seem to generate any (additional) logs.

uninstallwinclient.exe and agent reinstall doesn't appear to resolve the issue.

MS Visual Studio debug log below, may indicate a User Rights issue? Can't quite tell.

I know LDMS stores the most recent top X logged in users to estimate the primary owner.  It's been a while since I've had to fiddle with this..  Anyhow, on to the question: I need to keep track of all login and log out times.  (at least login).

I currently have Invenotry History set with a check in the box to track login name.  I had only the Event viewer one checked at first and I found it to be inaccurate.  Now, I've checked Inventory as well.  I read the help file but I am unable to figure out where this is logged? What is the best way to track user login and (hopefully) logout times?.  Why cant I find any information in inventory since I checked the box? Also it would be nice to even track locking the PC.

I know this is tracked in Power Management. Ultimately, I am looking to see what times users logged in to their PC, Locked their PC, and/or logged out of their PC? Any suggestions?

Oh, and since I know LDMS monitors and evaluates the last X logins to establish the primary user, is there anywhere I can VIEW these last x logon names? (and dates)

Thanks all. Rich S.

Inventory Errorscan on extremely long line item

Hello,

I am having an issue with the inventory scan on some of my machines.  The scans all end up in the Errorscan folder.  I have narrowed it down to one item these scans all have in common.  That one line appears to be about 1543 characters long and reads as:

OS - Drivers and Services - Service - (Name:Energy Server Service WILLAMETTE) - Path ="C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\esrv_svc.exe" "--AUTO_START" "--start" "--address" "127.0.0.1" "--port" "49330" "--depend_on_key" "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ESRV_SVC_WILLAMETTE" "--depend_on_value" "run" "--time_in_ms" "--pause" "5000" "--library" "C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_modeler.dll" "--no_pl" "--watchdog" "10" "--watchdog_cpu_usage_limit" "50" "--end_on_error" "--kernel_priority_boost" "--shutdown_priority_boost" "--device_options" " time=no output=w output_folder='C:\ProgramData\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\IntelData' limit_output_by=time output_limit=3600000 output_buffer=1024 il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_process_input.dll','process_input_options.txt' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_system_power_state_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_quality_and_reliability_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\acpi_battery_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\sema_thermal_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\wifi_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\devices_use_input.dll','service=yes' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_disktrace_input.dll','pause=60000 working_dir=C:\ProgramData\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\IntelData override_existing_tracing=no limit_output_by_filesize_mb=10' os='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\os_counters.txt' "

I noticed that every line item in that section of the SCN file starts off with "OS -"  This scanned item starts off the same way, but it is so long that it continues onto the next line.  My SCN file looks something like this...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

ESRV\acpi_battery_inpu...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

As a test, I removed the long entry including the part that continues to the next line.  Saved it, moved it back to to the ldscan folder, and watched it successfully import the inventory.

I believe the inventory scan is getting this entry from the machine's registry.  Is there a way to have it ignore a specific registry key from inventory scans just like you can have it ignore specific folders on local drives?

I am running 9.6 SP1.  Errorscan file attached.  Long entry can be found at line 3564

Thank you in advance for any help.
