Query for custom file?

$

0

I have a deployment job set up that copies a custom configuration file to the client's hard drive. I want to set up a query to find out if this task was successful. Is there a way to do this?

I've already added the file to the "to be scanned" section of the Manage Software List. I just cannot figure out how to query for it. I am running LANDESK 2016.

Inventory scan isn't updating Custom Data values

Last week I added some Custom Data fields (registry values for Java Update info).  After the inventory scan, the values showed up for the machines (JavaRT & Policy)

Untitled.png

Over the weekend I ran a job to update the registry enties to what we require and inventory got updated as picture above.   However, upon reboot, the registry entries reset to the original values (that;s a different can of worms).

The Inventory has not reverted even with a FULL SYCN SCAN.   If I use REGEDIT on the machine the values are different then the LDMS Inventory.

At this point I can't trust the Custom Data I have in inventory.

How can I get this corrected?

I'm running LDMS 9.0, SP3.

Thanks for your help.

PC not showing on All Devices

I recently deleted a user PC (Windows 8.1)from All Devices and reimaged it with Windows 10 Build 1803 through Landesk and it named it same as the old name. I did this twice but the PC name is not getting picked up back to the All Devices for me to push applications. Then I have noticed that there was an entry under Pending Unmanaged Devices so I deleted that. I ran the inventory and vulnera scan from the client machine few times, shutdown and restart, install reinstall the client agent, also did a scan by IP from Management console and it picked up the existing name but no luck to get it to the All Devices. Is there the possibility that the old entry was still there somewhere?

I'll try renaming the PC with different name and see how I go.

Thanks in advance.

Is there a document explaining the command line switches for LDISCN32.exe?  I can do a "/?" but it doesn't explain what  "/O /T /Q" do.

PC Model information

Hello:

I have a handful of workstations that either have no PC model information or inncorrect model information.  That is, the inventory field Computer.Model is either blank or has bad info (i.e., a Dell Latitude (laptop) reporting itself as a Dimension (not a laptop).  After doing some looking through the inventory I realized that another inventory field, Computer.System.Model, contains the correct information.

The only place on the actual machines, or in Active Directory that I find the model information is in the BIOS - this seems to be where Computer.System.Model is getting its info.  I confirmed on the test machines that I can easily access that WMI reports itself OK - this seems to be borne out by the correct information (including serial numbers) that is found under Computer.System.*.

Where is Computer.Model pulling its information?  Why is it accurate for about 90+% of the machines, but not on others?

Thanks for your help.

Inventory missing some items

LD 9.5 no SP1

As I look through my Console I keep seeing computers (small percentage) that have certain things missing for instance the model number, or windows version, provisioned column blank, etc and everything else is there.

When I look in inventory these items are missing from there.

1. In troubleshooting I deleted the test computer from the console then ran a full inventory scan, didn't help

2. went into \program files\landesk\ldclient\data and deleted the LDAPPL3.ini file and ran a full inventory scan, didn't help.

3. Did a remoteregistry and deleted the Landesk unique ID in both places, then ran a full scan, didn't help

Also all these computers have the same os (win 7 32bit), same model, as computers that are fine.

Any suggestions?

Mini Scans with New Agents

LD 8.8 SP3

I have recently deployed 14K nodes and have a small issue concerning mini scans.

From All devices view, I have about 100 machines that are "managed" but only show basic information (IP address , name, device ID, etc...). These are mini scans. I can remote control these devices. The agent appears to be fully installed. The agent has been resident for several weeks now. The "Last Updated By Inventory Server" date is current.

If I deploy the "Inventory Scanner" Managed Script., they all fail. The script has been modified to force a full scan. See below:

REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\LDISCN32.EXE<qt/> /NTT=%server%:5007 /S="%server%" /I=HTTP://%server%/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /NOUI /NOCD /F /Sync

The scheduled task results show "The system cannot find the path specified.

However, if i remote control a device in this group and manually kick off a full scan, the full inventory scan completes and I no longer have a mini scan inventory for that device. I have the full inventory. The command used is:

"C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\LDISCN32.EXE" /NTT=XXX-LDCORE:5007 /S=XXX-LDCORE  /I=HTTP://XXX-LDCORE/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /V /Sync /F

(I edited the server name for the purposes of this thread.)

Thinking it might be an issue with the variables, I modified the inventory script and specified the core server by name and redeployed with no success. That script was:

REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\LDISCN32.EXE<qt/> /NTT=XXX-LDCore:5007 /S="XXX-LDCore" /I=HTTP://XXX-LDCore/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /NOUI /NOCD /F /Sync

Question: Why does manually firing off the full inventory scan work and pushing the same command via Managed Scripts fail?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Cant see a device in all devices

Hi Guys,

I installed new 9.5 core server and now im trying to migrate clients from old 9.0 core server to it.

Im redeploying agents from new core server to all devices. So far everything worked like charm.

Now I found a device that I sucessfully deployed agent to but that device do not apear in all devices list.

Im able to connect to it using remote control.

I was also able to run manual security and inventory scan from the device. I saw that this device was communicating with right core during this scan but It didnt apear in the list.

(no error on client during scan)

I tired to completely remove - reinstall the agent but behaviour of this device is still the same.

Core server and the device are on the same network. All firewalls are dissabled.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem ?

Thanks

Getting HP Warranty Information Using Data Analytics

We are having problems with some computers pulling warranty information into the LANDesk console.  I have a problem with one computer not pulling the information in even though the serial number is in the database.  I looked up the computer on HP's website and it requires the product number to get the warranty information.  So I went to the computer.system.model number and the model number is missing.  Can anyone tell where this information is located on the system?  I would like to verify if the information does not exist on the computer or if I am getting a bad inventory from the computer.

How to query proxy setting in HKCU

$

All,

We are testing a new proxy and are trying query HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings for a string value - AutoConfigURL.  We have defined a custom data definition in the manage software list for the correct HKCU key and string.  We have verified that it works on some machines where the inventory was ran with the user logged on.

From what I can find on other posts, querying HKCU is next to impossible for a reliable query response.  I have tried some of the sample scripts that copy HKCU keys to HKLM (Printer.vbs) and adapted for our purposes, but it will only work when the logged in user is a local admin.  We have very few people with local admin rights.

I have seen a few posts suggesting you might have to use strasuser.exe but no examples or feedback indicating it worked.

Has anyone successfully queried HKCU?  If so, can you post a sample script/process?

We are running a newly re-built 9.6 sp1 core with over 2000 machines which are almost exclusively Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise.

Custom data fields? I need to to add a few and get close to 100% coverage

$

I need some advice on how to add a couple of custom data fields.  I need to add custom fields from a previous database, and I need to add my own custom "Function" field.  I only have the Management Suite 9.6 sp 0.  No other addons like the Inventory or Analytics.

Custom Fields from Previous Database

I've been given from a previous inventory system a list of computer names, serial numbers, and custom fields.  I can match it all up using serial number as a key, but  I need to add the custom data fields.  These are department and cost center.  The list is for about 6,000 computers, most of which were manually collected.  Because of the effort involved in collecting the data, I need to get these into the database, even if they aren't used much.

Custom "Function" field

I also found with my last large deployment that I need to classify computers based on it's function.  A custom "Function" field.  It's a hospital, so some computers are in the OR and others run a TV screen of advertisements.  They have different deployment requirements then a secretary or patient room computer.  Actually the rule list became quite complicated.  That's fine, but all I had to categorize them is OU, subnet, name, model, and installed software.  With no ability to use another query in a query, or a temporary table, my queries became very complicated and slow.  A "function" field would help a lot if it gets close to 100% coverage.

I've got the custom field in the registry, and have inventory collecting it.  It works nice, but I won't get full coverage with it.  For example, I might not be allowed to write to a registry on some computers (ie Vendor owned that runs lab or surgery equipment).  I've tried deploying a .bat file, but didn't get 100% success, and I'm starting to think 100% of any deployment is unrealistic.

I've played around with thecustom forms.  That looks good.  It could help with future collection of department, cost center, computer function fields.  It could get some more coverage of the custom data if I have compliance from field support.

I've seen how I can manually add a field in the Inventory window for a specific computer. But wow that'd be slow.  We have 12,000 objects in our inventory.  Even if half are old, It'd take forever to do it that way.  Having to even do 100 would be a cause for beer at lunch, I mean at 5.

I've access to the Database and the thought of sql insert/update queries has crossed my mind.  But the database is big and would take some time to figure out.  I have a lot of other work to do so holding that off as a last resort.

Any advice would be appreciated.  I'd rather do this within the Console because I'm trying to avoid making this too difficult for someone else to step in and do.  But if this has to be done using some programming or outside manipulation of the database then its something I definitely consider since both are very important.  I'm functional in c#, powershell, and sql.  I have a database admin who should be a sql master and a couple guys who know a bit of VB who could potentially help.  Also I might be looking at it wrong, so if there is another process that can accomplish the division of computers besides the custom field that could work too.

Thanks

about the inventory scan process

Dear all,

Could any one help me with the inventory scan process. I will appreciate if there is a "process diagram" of what steps or what tasks will be running on the LanDesk core and client.

I have all the day reading about it but I still have some questions and some difficult to finish the puzzle

First inventory scan on computer --> a scan file named  "invdelta.dat" will be created on C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\LDClient\Data\. (I don't understand the role of LDAPPL3.ini file during software scans is it a configuration file for the SoftMon.exe tool or it will contain all identified software in the managed comptuter).

From now on, each time the LDISCN32.exe starts a new inventory scan, it will just update the already created file "invdelta.dat" . Now, I don't know if the tool "LDISCN32.exe" will detect if there are modifications in this file so it will send the scan file to the landesk core or it will send a scan file without checking. Does the scan file to send to LanDesk core will contain just modified data? and when it will be sended (Once the inventory scan is done or we can configure this parameter to be once a day).

Searching for Office Files

I have amended my ldappl3.template file with .doc and .xls extensions but the Inventory scanner does not seem to be pulling these back.

(I fully understand that this could be a big database size boost but I have been asked to do this.)

Any reason why these files are not being pulled back?

I have left it for a couple of days and still nothing and I know that there are files of this type on the PC as I have made sure of that.

I work in a secure environment and I have been looking at Landesk data.

I see many systems that have been identified as having a Payments Gateway Client which was concerning due to our PCI requirements.

When I looked into this further, I see data similar to:

Not sure why the package name points to binary in the Microsoft Hyper V guest installer location.  How are packages determined in Landesk?  Is it via a hash database?

Systems disappearing from Ivanti console

$

I have read through the forums for information on this issue, but nothing seems to quite fit.  I have systems that are showing up and disappearing on their own in my 2017.3 console.  When I look, they do show up in errorscan, but the previous admin tells me just to delete them and the systems will catch up later on.  This does not seem to be the case since I can install the agent on a system and it shows up, then I can run a scan and it disappears.  The details of this process are varied, but it happens to many machines several times a day.  From what I have read on error scans, the systems will stay in inventory until their days to keep value has been exceeded.  Mine is set to 30 days, yet I can see systems show up and disappear several times a day, so that does not seem to apply.  Am I wrong in that error scans are produced and not processed when either the server or the database cannot process them in time?  If that is the case, how do I go about determining which one?  Are there other causes I should look at?  Assistance is appreciated.

Find SQL Server installations

Hi,

We need to find how many installations of SQL Servers we have in the organization.

I have created a query to find the following:

Computer.Software.Add or remove Programs.Program.Name = Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 or 2008

Query returns all server have these installations but on many of them, there is no SQL Management studio installed but only the SQL tools.

For example, attached is a screenshot of a server that has only the SQL Server configuration manager installed but in the Add remove programs, the SQL Server 2008 R2 seems to be installed.

Is there any way to find what we want?

It is for licensing purposes in order to specify if there is need to purchace more SQL licenses.

Thanks in advance,

Nikos

Is it possible to pull IIS information into Inventory?

$

Hey Everyone,

I am pretty new to LanDesk, so bear with me. I am loving LanDesk's Inventory capability. Our developers were wondering if it would be possible to gather which IIS Sites were on which servers. For instance, if I open IIS, navigate to Sites, and see CompanySite1, CompanySite2, etc... they want to have a list of those sites. I found a PowerShell script that will list them out, so if there is a way to incorporate that into the solution, that would work too. I'm just not really sure where to begin after that. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Inventory scan failed :ldiscn32: the inventory server "XXX" did not respond

Recently  we are facing issue with inventory scans not working on most of new client machines. We are able to successfully push the Landesk inventory agent  to a new PC. It seems to install fine but the PC is still sitting in Pending Unmanaged Client Deployment. It fails when sending scan results to the core server. When I tried to run a inventory scan manually ,it fails and displays the below error.

Inventory Services seem to be up and running within the PC and core server.
I can telnet from the PC to the core with ports 5007.
Windows firewall is disabled.

Appreciate your timely help and support on this

Next, I havent configured anything under cloud services appliances, does it have anything do with this inventory scan fail?

How to force an inventory scan on PC's which have been off for many weeks?

$

Here is my dilemma.  I have 5000 PC’s, which for the most part have been off for roughly 70 days.  Now that they are being turned back on, the IP addresses of the PC’s are not matching what’s in LANDesk.  Therefore, packages fail when being pushed out (a different agent responded).  To make this situation a bit crazier and because of login slowness, the inventory scan was removed from startup.  So, the only way to run an inventory scan is manually or if I am thinking correctly by re-pushing the client to all computers.

My question is.  Is there a way to simple force a scan on all computers, regardless if their IP address matches?   Perhaps using agent discovery?

Thanks

How to lookup MSOffice Installations? MSACCESS specifically?

I've got a question about the inventory in LDMS 9.0 SP2+

I am currently trying to build a query to give me a list of computers which don't have Microsoft Access 2010 installed and I am having trouble because it seems that all of my computers have it when in fact almost none of them really do.

I am currently mining the computer.software.add or remove programs.program.name part of my inventory and I am looking for instances of Access 2010.  There are two options available in my inventory and they read as follows:

Microsoft Office Access MUI (English) 2010

Microosft Office Access Setup Metadata MUI (English) 2010

again, a few computers have this software installed, but most don't.  My problem is that every one of my machines has office 2010 and according to landesk they all have access.   I know this to be false because I can go to the computers and verify that MSACCESS.EXE is not present, yet somehow the inventory scanner is picking up the installation.

Any thoughts on this?  I'd really like to see the scanner be able to look for specific files or registry entries because it would be very easy for me to take care of this problem on my own.

-thanks
