Hi,
I'm curious as to how I can get Landesk to re-detect a device that has been deleted from the console.
We manage many hundreds of devices and our normal process is to have a device deleted if it has not had a successful scan in over 2 months, however on occaison we have come across the odd laptop which has simply been locked away in a cupboard for a couple of months however can not be found on landesk except as an unmanaged device.
I've attempted to push out the Agent Configuration however this Fails with the error "Failed to build the agent installation package". I was previously under the impression that if a device is deleted from Landesk and is then at a later date plugged back into the network it would automatically be discovered again.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
I wanted to see who is using right click extender and how they use it ? I have been using it for a few weeks now and love it simple things like browsing C$ with a
right click , Anyone using this for any cool features they would like to share ?
I would really like to know how to setup emailing to users from lotus notes , This would be good for installing software etc. just to inform the users

Hi,
I was wondering, how can I have the real amount of physical memory installed in my computers, because if I choose the report Physical Memory it shows me only what Windows operational system can detect. For example I have 4 memory slots, two are not filled and the others have 2Gb each, so instead of report 4Gb, it only reports what Windows Operational System says.
Another way, was to use Queries choosing: Computer/ Memory / Slots / Memory Slot / Installed Size, but the result is exactly the same from that report.
How can I have a hardware inventory showing me in a collum the real ammount of physical memory installed?
Best regards,
Michel
We have LANDesk 9.6SP1.
One of the things that is very helpful for our technicians is to print a report for a workstation that lists only the installed products as shown in the Programs and Features on the workstation. (In other words, if you sit down at a workstation and then open Control Panel - Programs and Features, you see the list of "installed programs".) This is one of the more helpful reports for our techs when they need to re-setup a crashed computer and they know what programs to reinstall for that use.
In the LANDesk console, I figured the way to do this was to create a column set since in there you can find the "Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name" item. I mean, that seems to be the one that makes sense to accomplish this.
However, the resulting information is displaying significantly more items than the list of installed programs as shown in the Programs and Features on the workstation.
For example, when I display the "Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name" items for my device in the LANDesk Console, it returns 142 items! And within this list, I have 17 items that begin with the words "Microsoft Office...". However, if I sit at my computer and open the list of installed programs under the Programs and Features, the list is only 52 items long, and I have only a single item for Microsoft Office in the list.
How can we only display the "actual" list of installed programs as shown under the Programs and Features on each workstation?
I keep thinking I'm missing something obvious, but as of yet, it escapes me how to do this simple task so I have to swallow my pride and ask for help.
Hi
When we try to download patches using Landesk, it fails with next error message in vulscan.log:

If we try to download patches accesing URL http://landesk_server/LDLogon/patch/INTL/Citrix/CitrixReceiver4.6.exe , we can do it with no problems.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

We just upgraded ot LDMS version 9.5. In LDMS 9.0 I could find the version of IE on each machine querying Inventory, Custom Data, Internet Explorer.
Any idea how to query IE versions in 9.5?
Hi,
i'm trying to make a WMI query at the "inventory" - "user defined data". With WMI Explorer i got the following values:
Name Space: Root\CIMV2
Class: Win32_PnPEntity
Instance: KPCI-488 GPIB Interface
Caption: KPCI-488 GPIB Interface
In Landesk i have:
Name Space
Class Name
Display Object
Property Name
Display Name
Does anyone know where i have to insert the individual "WMI values" in the "Landesk Property box"? "Name Space" and "Class" is evident, but the remaining...
Many thanks for your help.

We are running LD 9.5 SP1. When I go to Manage Software List and add a registry item for detecting the version of Office 365 inventory scans do not return the reg key value. Below is how I have the registry item setup
Root Key: HKLM
Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook
Value: Bitness
Attribute Name: Software - Add or Remove Programs - Program - Microsoft Office 365 - Bitness
The Key name is Bitness, it has a value that reflects whether office is 32 or 64 bit. The new path shows up in my query options but no values are showing up for that attribute. The new path is not showing on the inventory window when I inspect a device though.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello
I have some problems with custom registry data on LDMS 9.5 and Windows 7 64bits clients : data are not insered into database.
Clients ldappl3.ini are up to date and "Unknow items" is configured to allow my custom data, following http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-7457
Inventory is launched using "C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\LDClient\LDIScn32.EXE" /NTT=LDMSSRV:5007 /S=LDMSSRV /I=\\LDMSSRV\ldlogon\ldappl3.ldz /NOUI"
Even Internet Explorer version registry is not working, after applying http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-27801
I have also tried to clean database using DBRepair (06022011)
If you have an idea, I'm your man

I need some advice on how to add a couple of custom data fields. I need to add custom fields from a previous database, and I need to add my own custom "Function" field. I only have the Management Suite 9.6 sp 0. No other addons like the Inventory or Analytics.
Custom Fields from Previous Database
I've been given from a previous inventory system a list of computer names, serial numbers, and custom fields. I can match it all up using serial number as a key, but I need to add the custom data fields. These are department and cost center. The list is for about 6,000 computers, most of which were manually collected. Because of the effort involved in collecting the data, I need to get these into the database, even if they aren't used much.
Custom "Function" field
I also found with my last large deployment that I need to classify computers based on it's function. A custom "Function" field. It's a hospital, so some computers are in the OR and others run a TV screen of advertisements. They have different deployment requirements then a secretary or patient room computer. Actually the rule list became quite complicated. That's fine, but all I had to categorize them is OU, subnet, name, model, and installed software. With no ability to use another query in a query, or a temporary table, my queries became very complicated and slow. A "function" field would help a lot if it gets close to 100% coverage.
I've got the custom field in the registry, and have inventory collecting it. It works nice, but I won't get full coverage with it. For example, I might not be allowed to write to a registry on some computers (ie Vendor owned that runs lab or surgery equipment). I've tried deploying a .bat file, but didn't get 100% success, and I'm starting to think 100% of any deployment is unrealistic.
I've played around with thecustom forms. That looks good. It could help with future collection of department, cost center, computer function fields. It could get some more coverage of the custom data if I have compliance from field support.
I've seen how I can manually add a field in the Inventory window for a specific computer. But wow that'd be slow. We have 12,000 objects in our inventory. Even if half are old, It'd take forever to do it that way. Having to even do 100 would be a cause for beer at lunch, I mean at 5.
I've access to the Database and the thought of sql insert/update queries has crossed my mind. But the database is big and would take some time to figure out. I have a lot of other work to do so holding that off as a last resort.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'd rather do this within the Console because I'm trying to avoid making this too difficult for someone else to step in and do. But if this has to be done using some programming or outside manipulation of the database then its something I definitely consider since both are very important. I'm functional in c#, powershell, and sql. I have a database admin who should be a sql master and a couple guys who know a bit of VB who could potentially help. Also I might be looking at it wrong, so if there is another process that can accomplish the division of computers besides the custom field that could work too.
Thanks
Is it possible to scan a registry key in the HKCU key? I have followed the directions located here but have been unsuccessful. I have been able to scan for a key in the HKLM successfully but not the HKCU.
Hello,
I recently notice in my event viewer that I am getting references regarding some duplicate devices and I would like to get this cleaned up.
Inventory server detected {5F043037-DE8F-AD44-9FB9-EFE02374E322} as a duplicated device ID. Currenty I have 5000+ clients and it has become a challenge for me to easily identify these duplicates. Is there and easy way to scan for these to help me get this cleaned up? Thanks, Mike
Hello all,
When we first implemented we didn't make much use of the Alert system. I am attempting to set it up correctly so it can be used, but I am running into an issue.
We have cleared out all our old alerts so we could "start fresh" and will be pushing new alert settings to all machines. However, we still have a large amount of machines that are reporting their health is "Critical" despite there being no alerts for them, and their health not being actually critical.
For example, the machine at some point may have reported that it was low on HDD space, but it is no longer low on HDD space, but the inventory data for it still has a Health status set to "4,"
Is there a way to reset the health status of a machine manually? Or do I have to have our DBA update them all to Health Status of "2" to reset this. There are no alerts to "acknowledge" or anything for the device in order to clear the alert.
Thanks!
I am running into a real strange issue here. I have custom registry keys that I am scanning for. I made the changes in the template file, made it available to clients and went to a machine and forced a sync scan. The files all changed but when I opened the ldappl3.ini on the local PC, the custom registry keys were not there. I compared this to the ini on the server and they are the same date/time stamp but different sizes!
Copying the correct ini file to the local machine, with the .pat and .paz files still does not solve the problem.
I am at a lose here. Suggestions?
Preface: I'm new to landesk so take it easy on me but please let me know if there are easier ways to do what I'm trying to do
I have multiple cores in my environment and I recently tried to migrate a couple hundred servers from one core to another by pushing a new Server Agent Configuration. The majority seem to have worked but there are several that have not reported their inventory scans to the new core.
After connecting to one of the failed machines I tried to run this to get a full scan uploaded to the core:
LDISCN32.EXE" /NTT=core.domain:5007 /RSS /F /S= /I=core.domain HTTP://core.domain/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /V /sync
In the ldiscn32.log file I see the following error:
LookupAccountName failed '1332'
The scan does end up going to the new core but ends up under the ldscan\ErrorScan directory.
Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

anyone else seen this problem?
Has anyone got a decent, reliable method or script to detect all mapped drives? I have the crude version below that works but reporting from this data collection isn't the easiest.
Since we're movng from Novell to AD, I need to filter out my Novell mappings and only report on the non-Novell mappings. I currently do this with an array of known Novell servers then searching their existence in the string of the found mappings, then liminating them. Just looking for a better way.
Thanks in advance!

After completing our upgrade to LDMS 9.5 from 9.0 SP3 we are unable to successfully run LDISCN32.EXE with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 installed on XP based machines, does not seem to be affecting Win7. The inventory scan hangs on the software and fails to close LDISCN32.EXE. If you uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection, the inventory scan completes without issues. We have turned off every option in Symantec but are unable to run an inventory scan with it installed.
