Event ID: 4100 - Invalid pointer T

This is happening for a couple of the test machine's inventory parse on my test core server.

Event ID: 4100

Database exception: 4FB350~1.SCN, LDInv.dll

-2147467261

Invalid pointer

Update Table:Computer Column:SWLASTSCANDATE PK:,

What gives?

I've tried the stop inventory service - dbrepair - coredbutil - start inventory service, but this persists.

Examining the table (dbo.Computer SWLastScanDate column shows it is not a PK. Is it supposed to be?

Collecting Registry Information

I am familiar with using the ldappl3 to collect registry entries but I have a query regarding the collection of a specific key. I have SmarTeam in my environment and I need to capture the Hot Fix version if installed, I know the registry key exists at HKLM\SOFTWARE\SmarTeam\SmarTeam\SMARTEAM - Editor V5R19 SP7 HF60 but there are no valuses under the key, only the key exists as shown below

KEY.jpg

Is there a way to capture that the key exists by using ldappl3? This is what I have tried but it collects nothing, I tried with and without the "" after HF60 but it makes no difference.

;SmarTeam

;KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\SmarTeam\SmarTeam\SMARTEAM - Editor V5R19 SP7 HF60,"", Custom Data - SmarTeam - HotFix HF60

Any hel appreciated

Regards

Dave

Security Update for Microsoft Windows not showing in inventory

I have a Window 10 client (1607) that has the patch for wannacrypt installed (KB4013429) along with a number of other patches.  KB4013429 was installed 4/5/2017.  However, inventory just shows 5 updates installed and KB4013429 is not one of them.  I'm trying to scan for how many machines are patched.  There are other machines that do report that patch installed.

I've tried running full sync scans from the console end, running inventory from the client end, re-installing the client, deleting the client from the console and again re-installing the client with the same results.  Inventory\Name\OS\Updates\updates still only shows 5 installed updates.

Last Software Scan Date and Last Updated by Inventory Scanner all show today's date and the time is just after client installation

LD version is 9.60.2.48

Patch was originally installed through our WSUS server

Bitlocker Recovery Key in Inventory

Hi,

there is a Inventory Property - "Computer"."Mass Storage"."Drive Encryption"."Recovery Key"

2017-05-23 18_34_57-LANDESK® Management Console.png

Unfortunatelly the Inventory Information is not populated by the inventory scanner.

Some of the other informations are collected by the Scanner:

2017-05-23 18_36_34-Inventory - wuta-edv5761.png

So my question is, is there a build in support for reading out the Recovery Key to this Inventory field or do I have to run additional scripts for populating this Inventory Entry?

Thank you, Marco

PC Model information

Hello:

I have a handful of workstations that either have no PC model information or inncorrect model information.  That is, the inventory field Computer.Model is either blank or has bad info (i.e., a Dell Latitude (laptop) reporting itself as a Dimension (not a laptop).  After doing some looking through the inventory I realized that another inventory field, Computer.System.Model, contains the correct information.

The only place on the actual machines, or in Active Directory that I find the model information is in the BIOS - this seems to be where Computer.System.Model is getting its info.  I confirmed on the test machines that I can easily access that WMI reports itself OK - this seems to be borne out by the correct information (including serial numbers) that is found under Computer.System.*.

Where is Computer.Model pulling its information?  Why is it accurate for about 90+% of the machines, but not on others?

Thanks for your help.

Primary Owner of the Device

Hi There,

Please can you sched some light on the primary owner field in the inventory of the device. I would like to know who is the primary owner of the device.

A scenario could be seen as: - Bearing in mind we have set Primary Owner on the Configure Services to 5

I login to my device, i become the primary owner. The next time and engineer is working on my PC, he logs in say 5 times. He becomes the primary owner. At what time do i become the primary owner again ?

And what can influence this, eg: Agent configurations etc ?

Thanks,

Mark.

LDMS9 overloading Oracle 11g

Since upgrading to LDMS9 sp2, we've had problems with the inventory service dropping offline. Our Oracle DBA was noticing the database listener would stop responding, which seemed to cause the service problems, and has been looking at Oracle. This morning, after rolling out patches over the weekend, I noticed that the inventory data is badly out of date on many machines, including mine. (Example - system does daily inventory scans, but machines are showing nothing since late July or early August.) I had clened out the ErrorScan folder 10 days ago, and in the last 10 days I have ~7300 failures in there (about 3/4 of all scans, if my ~1000 machines are scanning daily for the last 10 days.) Asked the DBA, and he had finally determined that LANDesk is overloading the listeners with the number of concurrent database sessions trying to connect to Oracle, and asked that I limit LDMS to 120 concurrent connections.

Is there a way to do something like this? I can't find anything in the community about it...

This isn't a huge system, either - one core, a dozen total users, about 1000 devices.

Primary owner attribute has wrong data

Hi All,

On a few laptops we have, the inventory scans are coming in with the wrong primary owner attribute. Rather than grabbing the AD user information, it is grabbing the following AD info for the system:

CN=(computer name),OU=(system OU location),DC=(domain name),DC,(domain suffix),DC=com

typically, you would expect CN=John Smith,OU=information technology, etc, etc.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Or have any thoughts? The agent seems to function fine other than that. (I am in the process of trying to reinstall the agents on these, but wonder if I should be concerned about a known bug)

Thanks,

-Brandon

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

Preface: I'm new to landesk so take it easy on me but please let me know if there are easier ways to do what I'm trying to do

I have multiple cores in my environment and I recently tried to migrate a couple hundred servers from one core to another by pushing a new Server Agent Configuration. The majority seem to have worked but there are several that have not reported their inventory scans to the new core.

After connecting to one of the failed machines I tried to run this to get a full scan uploaded to the core:

LDISCN32.EXE" /NTT=core.domain:5007 /RSS /F /S= /I=core.domain HTTP://core.domain/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /V /sync

In the ldiscn32.log file I see the following error:

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

The scan does end up going to the new core but ends up under the ldscan\ErrorScan directory.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Query Operator "Like" does not work like in SQL (wildcard %)

Hi

I'm using LANDesk 9.6 SP1 for 3 month now and I realize that the queries are "interpreted" like this:

"Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name"  Like  "programX"

-equals in SQL

"Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name"  Like  "%programX%"

BUT I often want to look for a software called "programX*"

so in SQL I would use

...Like "programX%"

Searching the community gives me this...

Custom Database Queries: How they work, guidelines on creating them, and examples of them in action

HOW TO: Hacking LANDesk Queries

Is it really true that the LANDesk "query builder" should be "simple to use LIKE statements"?

That means, it always uses  "%searchstring%" with the LIKE operator, making it impossible to use "searchstring%" or "%searchstring"?

It's hard to believe. C'mon, it's LANDesk! One of the BIGGEST players in software distribution?

Is there a way I'm not aware of? As I said, I'm a LANDesk beginner ;-)

Thanks

Check LANDesk Agent Health

Hi guys,

I would like to know how many ways there are to identify a problem with Landesk Agent. I use Landesk 9.5 and when CBA8 stops to work, or another kind of trouble like that, it is difficult to analysed. I've found these documents: VBScript to check LANDesk Agent Health and reinstall if needed and CBA 8, unable to contact the remote agent

For give an idea, they are really nice but are there others points to think about? The point is to create a program that inform us about the Landesk agent health and, if necessary, reinstall it.

Thanks

Hi,

Some of our managed devices don't have some inventory items. The most common case is OS - Updates (please see picture)

So my question why the big number of our managed devices has this inventory numbers but others devices with the same agent settings and same agent configuration don't have???

Suggesting for Querying for a range of logon time

$

We have a combination of 24 hour boxes running 12 hour shifts and boxes that run typical Monday-Friday 8-5.

I know I can push a form out asking user to identify what category their box falls into but I want to do it by query if possible.  But the parameters I have to work with might not be ones I can query.

8-830 box are usually the same user but not necessarily, and the 24 hour boxes are twelve our shifts where the most recent log on is either around 6 am or 6pm.  Without pushing out a form, or tagging machines, any way you know to query a particular logon time of day rather than date or something else I just have not thought of?? Thanks.

Hi Good Morning,

Im having a hard time figuring out on what to do.

I need to clean the inventory, that all inactive client that has not been connected in the network for more 2 months should be deleted in Landesk.

How do i know if the unit is active within 2 months? does landesk have the capability to check if unit is active? or there is a time stamp that when a client connects to the network landesk will register that the unit is active?

Thanks,

Joe

Need Help Creating Query to Find Computers Without Updated Program

$

0

Hi everyone,

I'm fresh to operating LANdesk and myself and others in our staff are really racking our brains about how to resolve this. So, being a total n00b, I'll try to explain this as best possible. And please be simple in response! (Anyone have a LANdesk for dummies?)

I'm trying to create a query to find computers that do not have a specific version of a program installed. I figured the simple answer is to just use "not exist" and the title/version of the program I'm looking for.But that doesn't seem to work like that. I can't effectively do a search of all previous versions, because the program can run the new version with or without the old version. We need to find what PC's do not have the program installed so we can make sure to get the program pushed out or get to it by foot.

Thanks!

LDISCN32.exe command switches

Is there a document explaining the command line switches for LDISCN32.exe?  I can do a "/?" but it doesn't explain what  "/O /T /Q" do.

I believe I have a rogue database

$
0
0

So I recently install Ivanti Endpoint Manager 2017.1 on a server that previously hosted LANDesk Management Suite 2016, and while our SQL admin created the new database on a separate Virtual Hard Disk (which is still active and gets written to), I noticed a secondary database located on my Core OS drive (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA). The database is just named "LANDesk.mdf", but it's already reached 7GB in size. Both our SQL admin and myself are puzzled as to what this database if for, why it's being consistently updated, and what is updating it.

This is an issue, because it's draining my hard drive storage on the Core, and if it's constantly writing to it, then those are vital resources that are being utilized.

Does anyone know what this database may be utilized for? It can't be a remnant from LANDesk 2016, because that wouldn't explain why it's being constantly updated. Why would Ivanti be using both the configured database that's on a separate drive and this other database? More importantly, how do I rid myself of it safely (if I can)?

Since I couldn't find anything regarding "database" or "SQL" in the places, I'm taking a guess and placing it in the "Inventory" place.
