I work in a secure environment and I have been looking at Landesk data.

I see many systems that have been identified as having a Payments Gateway Client which was concerning due to our PCI requirements.

When I looked into this further, I see data similar to:

Not sure why the package name points to binary in the Microsoft Hyper V guest installer location.  How are packages determined in Landesk?  Is it via a hash database?

Wrong IP address on managed devices with Oracle Virtual Box software 4.x or 5.x installed

Hello everybody.

This is a topic that is related to the question I've posted a month ago : Wrong NIC address in the inventory (virtual adapter instead of Ethernet adapter)

After some tests I made with clients connected through CSA to the core server, now the IP address that sends to the core belongs to the Virtual Box virtual adapter instead of the right one (appart from registering the wrong primary NIC card for the device) :

This is what shows the Core console when these devices are connecting from external networks through CSA:

Adaptadores incorrectosViaCSA1.jpg

For the first one, device CR3533006DC0052, the network settings when connecting throgh CSA were this:

confRedErronea.jpg

Back to the corporate network, the device reported the right IP address although the primary NIC in the "Network node" is still the one that belongs to Virtual Box.

Then I choose another device that were reporting correctly their IP address and NIC either throgh CSA or directly to the Core server : CR3533006DC0087. But I decided to install the latest version of Virtual Box 5.0 available on it and repeated the connectivity tests, the result was that it began to have the same problems as the first device.

I have been looking into the community for similar cases and the few ones that I have found, the solution that was proposed was to set up correctly the network binding order :

https://community.landesk.com/support/message/92802#92802

Both devices were configured following the recomendations that I found in this article : The IP address of the managed device isn't updated - the IP address of the wrong network connection is reported

The binding order on both devices (configured before the tests are done) is what follows : 1 Ethernet, 2 Wireless, 3 VMNet1, 4 VMnet8, 5 VirtualBox Host-Only Network.

2016-02-18 12_18_50-Configuración avanzada.png2016-02-18 12_20_49-Conexiones de red.png

Nonetheless, it still reporting the wrong IP and the wrong NIC address for the primary adapter. I have even uninstall the agents and reinstall again but with no results.

Has somebody experienced this issue or is any workaround I can try?

Thanks everybody for your time if you have come to the end of this article!

Random Printout From Serial Thermal Printer

We are trying to troubleshoot why several of our computers with "SNBC BTP-2002NP" thermal receipt printers randomly print out PJL commands.  The printers are connected to  POS computers that connect to a terminal server.  The printer is not installed it is just connected to the com 2 port.  The POS software runs from the terminal server and prints to the com 2 port.  When this happens it causes the application to freeze up on the RD Web Windows Terminal Server for the individuals session.  Does anyone know how LANDesk polls for printers to add them to inventory?  Would LANDesk send the following commands to the com port during inventory to determine information?

Automatically Delete old Computers

So I have been wondering for a while now why I have so many old devices showing up in my inventory. According to this doc (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1188) The "Days to keep inventory scans" is supposed to take care of this, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have mine set to 30 days, but I have machines showing up in inventory with Last Hardware Scan Date of over 6 months ago. Why is this not working or how do I get it to work? Thanks.

Inventory missing some items

LD 9.5 no SP1

As I look through my Console I keep seeing computers (small percentage) that have certain things missing for instance the model number, or windows version, provisioned column blank, etc and everything else is there.

When I look in inventory these items are missing from there.

1. In troubleshooting I deleted the test computer from the console then ran a full inventory scan, didn't help

2. went into \program files\landesk\ldclient\data and deleted the LDAPPL3.ini file and ran a full inventory scan, didn't help.

3. Did a remoteregistry and deleted the Landesk unique ID in both places, then ran a full scan, didn't help

Also all these computers have the same os (win 7 32bit), same model, as computers that are fine.

Any suggestions?

How can I find where Inventory Scan looks on the PC for the Manufacturing date?

My Inventory currently shows this blank on all PCs.  If this is something that exists on the PCs but I'm not retrieving that information, how can I turn that on?

Searching for Office Files

I have amended my ldappl3.template file with .doc and .xls extensions but the Inventory scanner does not seem to be pulling these back.

(I fully understand that this could be a big database size boost but I have been asked to do this.)

Any reason why these files are not being pulled back?

I have left it for a couple of days and still nothing and I know that there are files of this type on the PC as I have made sure of that.

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

Preface: I'm new to landesk so take it easy on me but please let me know if there are easier ways to do what I'm trying to do

I have multiple cores in my environment and I recently tried to migrate a couple hundred servers from one core to another by pushing a new Server Agent Configuration. The majority seem to have worked but there are several that have not reported their inventory scans to the new core.

After connecting to one of the failed machines I tried to run this to get a full scan uploaded to the core:

LDISCN32.EXE" /NTT=core.domain:5007 /RSS /F /S= /I=core.domain HTTP://core.domain/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /V /sync

In the ldiscn32.log file I see the following error:

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

The scan does end up going to the new core but ends up under the ldscan\ErrorScan directory.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Can I query NIC link speed?

Greetings,

Is there a way to query NIC link speed using LANDesk agent?

We have just recently upgraded the physical network wiring in our environment.  Some of the WinXP boxes were hard set to 10 Mbps half.  I would like to find out if there is a way for me to identify these boxes and perhaps use a powershell script to change them to 1 Gbps full or Auto.

Thanks in advance!

Modeled Data showing zero

I have a custom data registry key that I am successfully pulling in from our Windows devices. The registry key is a string value which contains only integers from -3 to 300. By default the unmodeled data is being captured as an NVARCHAR. This is causing issues when trying to create reports and queries that use the greater than\less than logic.

I attempted to model the data and change the data type to INT. I left every thing else as default and added the data to a new table name. Upon completion, the table in the database and all the inventory data showed all values as 0. Essentially wiping out all of my captured data. I have since used the database doctor to clear out the attribute setting it back to unmodeled data. New scans are starting to repopulate the data as expected, but I am still left with the problem and need to get this set as an INT datatype.

Is there a document explaining the command line switches for LDISCN32.exe?  I can do a "/?" but it doesn't explain what  "/O /T /Q" do.
