Is there a list of public variables I can use in LDMS scripts? Like the %LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%, %CUSTJOBHOSTIP%, etc.? I'm just trying a very simple script to copy the invdelta.dat file to my location for review. Script works fine but it's statis. I need a variable for Device ID. IP works, but if I could neaten it up a bit with host name and just to have them for future reference... Thanks!! [MACHINES_NT] REMCOPY0=C:\%CUSTJOBHOSTIP%.txt, %LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\data\invdelta.dat, FROMREMOTE
I have created a query that selects a group of machines by model and by login user. Out of those machines I wold like to create a report to show the .Netframework installed. I have noticed that the majority of the devices have .NetFramework 2.0 but there are other ones that have different one. I have selected certain colums to show what I need but only .Netframework 2.0 show in the report because that is what I have chosen. What do I need to do to show version of .Netframework.
Thanks in advance!
We're on LANDesk 9 SP2 and I seem to have a problem lately where Inventory Scans are timing out on Windows XP client computers. I'm getting an error in the Application log on affected clients...
"Event ID 1002"
"Application Hang"
"Hanging application LDISCN32.EXE, version 9.0.2.120, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000."
We first noticed the problem because we use a command in our OS deployment process to send a full inventory scan after a machine is re-imaged. On some OS deployment jobs we started to see clients that would hang and never complete the Inventory Scan section of the script. I had to terminate the ldiscn32.exe process in Task Manager. If I run an Inventory Scan from the Start Menu shortcut I see that Hardware Inventory is complete, Software Inventory runs to about 80% on the progress bar and then just stays there, having processed around 37,400 files. (The actual number of files processed varies.)
I'm not sure how many of our client computers are affected, but I suspect it's quite a few because I see a number of inventory records that have not seen an updated software inventory in many weeks, even though the machines are connected to the network every day. I don't think it's a problem on the core because my ldscan folder is not filling up with SCN files, and some clients are sending inventory successfully.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've read the past threads on this, what few there were, but was unable to locate an answer that worked.
When I attempt to query for IE versions, Utilizing the Custom Data, or the Product/Name functions, I get a jumbled response. It brings back pretty much everything in the computer software inventory.
I need to be able to differiniate between IE 7 and IE 8 but can not get it to run correctly and bring back what i am asking it for. I can get it to bring back 8 only. but not 7 and 8 nor, more perfably, everything but 8.
After establishing the quert to bring back the above, I would tack on it further statements that will bring it back for a particular subnet as well. I've managed to do this for other programs, such as Lotus and Adobe, but IE isnt' performing the same... I must assume this is because it's imbedded into the OS correct?
Thanks for any help you can provide scripting the correct logic for this function.
Hello All,
I wanted to get serial numbers for the printers in my environmet, I have LANDesk version 9 with SP3 and tried many times with different settings in the unmanaged network discovery to collect more information about printers but I couldn't have the serial number, please is there any way to get the serial number for the printers? and what is the best way to do that if it's possible?
LD 9.5 no SP1
As I look through my Console I keep seeing computers (small percentage) that have certain things missing for instance the model number, or windows version, provisioned column blank, etc and everything else is there.
When I look in inventory these items are missing from there.
1. In troubleshooting I deleted the test computer from the console then ran a full inventory scan, didn't help
2. went into \program files\landesk\ldclient\data and deleted the LDAPPL3.ini file and ran a full inventory scan, didn't help.
3. Did a remoteregistry and deleted the Landesk unique ID in both places, then ran a full scan, didn't help
Also all these computers have the same os (win 7 32bit), same model, as computers that are fine.
Any suggestions?
I have an issue where the core is seeing Devices using their old IP Address and will not update, making any control of the device pointless.
I can PING from the core to the device and visa-versa.
Inventory scans work on the device.
I have followed this article by francesco.baldini to no avail - The IP address of the managed device isn't updated - the IP address of the wrong network connection is reported
We are trying to troubleshoot why several of our computers with "SNBC BTP-2002NP" thermal receipt printers randomly print out PJL commands. The printers are connected to POS computers that connect to a terminal server. The printer is not installed it is just connected to the com 2 port. The POS software runs from the terminal server and prints to the com 2 port. When this happens it causes the application to freeze up on the RD Web Windows Terminal Server for the individuals session. Does anyone know how LANDesk polls for printers to add them to inventory? Would LANDesk send the following commands to the com port during inventory to determine information?
12345X@PJL
@PJL INFO ID
@PJL INQUIRE SERIALNUMBER
@PJL INFO PAGECOUNT
@PJL INQUIRE RESOLUTION
@PJL INFO STATUS
@PJL INFO SUPPLIES
@PJL INFO PRODINFO
@PJL INFO VARIABLES
LDMS 9.6 SP2 / CP_BASE_0722
Having a query issue:
The built-in IE Version in the inventory(Browser - Internet Explorer - Version) is having issues with results when I run a query against it. I created a query to list all systems with IE version < 9.10.9200.16521. the query returns blank. I tried < 9.10 and < 9. Each time the query is blank. If I set the query to EXIST then it list all systems.
so I created a new registry key for the inventory to gather,
Root Key: HKLM
Key: Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Value: Version
Attribute Name: Browser - Internet Explorer - Version2
When the inventories come in the Version collected(Browser - Internet Explorer - Version2) is not the version LANDESK is showing in their inventory attribute(Browser - Internet Explorer - Version) .
When I point the query to my collected value (Browser - Internet Explorer - Version2) the query works exactly as planned. So there seems to be a normalizing of the data collected that LANDESK is performing that my custom registry collection is not doing. Also it seems that the normalizing of the data is writing the value as a string rather than integer which would effect queries based on <,>,>=, <= functions.
Not sure if this is by design or a bug.
Anyone else run into this?
So, I suddenly started seeing this error on multiple workstations, and was wondering if anyone else has seen it?
This error occurs when I try and run an Inventory Scan manually (on the client), and a tell tell sign is that the Inventory is incomplete (nearly 95% incomplete).
I saw this article http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-6386, but doesn't really give reason on why the file would just vanish. We don't use any Symantec products, so does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi all,
I have been trying to find a way to build a query to locate a specific .txt file we have on a few workstations in the c:\ProgramData folder.
I have amended the ldappl3.template file to include .txt files in the ScanExtensions and set the mode to listed and ensured the folder is not in the excluded folder section.
In the Manage Software List i can see the .txt file in the "To be scanned" section if i search for *.txt and i have made this available to all clients.
I have ran a full sync scan many times on the machines which have this file to test my query but my search results always come up blank
My search query is
"Computer" . "Software" . "Package" . "File Name" = "filename.txt"
I have also tried Like and Exists with no joy either.
Any ideas what i am doing wrong, my goal is to run my report and have it list the computers which have this file in the ProgramData folder.
Thanks
Hi,

Do I need worry about that??
What is causing this issue??
How can I fix this issue??
Thanks in advance..

Trying to create a query to check on the status of our Sophos AV installed on our PC's. We're using LDMS 9.5 sp3, and finding that the AV info under Security in Inventory is not reporting back that Sophos AV is installed on the PC. In fact, it is there. How is LDMS picking this info up and reporting it back through inventory?
I need some advice on how to add a couple of custom data fields. I need to add custom fields from a previous database, and I need to add my own custom "Function" field. I only have the Management Suite 9.6 sp 0. No other addons like the Inventory or Analytics.
Custom Fields from Previous Database
I've been given from a previous inventory system a list of computer names, serial numbers, and custom fields. I can match it all up using serial number as a key, but I need to add the custom data fields. These are department and cost center. The list is for about 6,000 computers, most of which were manually collected. Because of the effort involved in collecting the data, I need to get these into the database, even if they aren't used much.
Custom "Function" field
I also found with my last large deployment that I need to classify computers based on it's function. A custom "Function" field. It's a hospital, so some computers are in the OR and others run a TV screen of advertisements. They have different deployment requirements then a secretary or patient room computer. Actually the rule list became quite complicated. That's fine, but all I had to categorize them is OU, subnet, name, model, and installed software. With no ability to use another query in a query, or a temporary table, my queries became very complicated and slow. A "function" field would help a lot if it gets close to 100% coverage.
I've got the custom field in the registry, and have inventory collecting it. It works nice, but I won't get full coverage with it. For example, I might not be allowed to write to a registry on some computers (ie Vendor owned that runs lab or surgery equipment). I've tried deploying a .bat file, but didn't get 100% success, and I'm starting to think 100% of any deployment is unrealistic.
I've played around with thecustom forms. That looks good. It could help with future collection of department, cost center, computer function fields. It could get some more coverage of the custom data if I have compliance from field support.
I've seen how I can manually add a field in the Inventory window for a specific computer. But wow that'd be slow. We have 12,000 objects in our inventory. Even if half are old, It'd take forever to do it that way. Having to even do 100 would be a cause for beer at lunch, I mean at 5.
I've access to the Database and the thought of sql insert/update queries has crossed my mind. But the database is big and would take some time to figure out. I have a lot of other work to do so holding that off as a last resort.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'd rather do this within the Console because I'm trying to avoid making this too difficult for someone else to step in and do. But if this has to be done using some programming or outside manipulation of the database then its something I definitely consider since both are very important. I'm functional in c#, powershell, and sql. I have a database admin who should be a sql master and a couple guys who know a bit of VB who could potentially help. Also I might be looking at it wrong, so if there is another process that can accomplish the division of computers besides the custom field that could work too.
Thanks
I was preparing some software deployment verification docs for our helpdesk in reference to a piece of software we've tested and are about to release. In looking for the item used in terms of this verification, I discovered it and its predecessor aren't listed in Inventory>Software>Package as it is in our 9.5 core. I ran a full sync scan on the targeted machine with no luck. I then checked several machines that would be getting this software in the deployment. They are all missing that same Software>Package in their inventory as well.
Still cutting my LANDESK teeth here so I'm not sure how I would co about resolving this.
Here is the story so far.....
SLM is reporting that we have XXX amount of Adobe Acrobat installations. This number seems high. So I would look at some individual machines and notice that the software will NOT be located in "Inventory/Software/Add Remove" BUT it will show up in "Inventory/Software/Products"
When looking at the workstations C:drive programs, they do not have that version of Adobe Acrobat installed. They may have NO installations of acrobat or they will have a Newer versions installed with the old version still in "Products" but not "Add Remove" of the inventory.
So the questions is, how do I get SLM to not report an uninstalled version of adobe acrobat? This hurts us because we think we only have XX amount of licenses available but actually have XXX available.
Also, I assume some will tell me to make a query in LANDesk and use that in the SLM, and by all means let me know, I have some that work just there are some machines that still are reporting incorrectly. If there is no way around it but using a query then I will be fine with that knowing that is the answer that everyone would take themselves.
Hello:
I have a handful of workstations that either have no PC model information or inncorrect model information. That is, the inventory field Computer.Model is either blank or has bad info (i.e., a Dell Latitude (laptop) reporting itself as a Dimension (not a laptop). After doing some looking through the inventory I realized that another inventory field, Computer.System.Model, contains the correct information.
The only place on the actual machines, or in Active Directory that I find the model information is in the BIOS - this seems to be where Computer.System.Model is getting its info. I confirmed on the test machines that I can easily access that WMI reports itself OK - this seems to be borne out by the correct information (including serial numbers) that is found under Computer.System.*.
Where is Computer.Model pulling its information? Why is it accurate for about 90+% of the machines, but not on others?
Thanks for your help.
Thom
I have several clients that aren't updating the ldappl3.ini file.
I've deleted all of the ldappl3 files (minus .template) file and recreated them on the core.
Checked the ldapplpcgi.sig and ldapplpcgi.exe files (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-6320), they have the same date, just are 13hrs apart.
Aside from reinstall, I am not sure what I can do.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Hi folks, It's been a long time since I've posted here now that I am in a "set it and forget it" world. Now that I am at LDMS 9.5 SP2, I am a little foggy on how to search for and report on all *.mdb files. It seems ldappl3 has all changed and I am thinking I need more of a modeled data result than just a count, etc. I can VBScript this, but I am opting not to. I am looking for the easiest method or suggestion on how to search local drives for *.mdb and perhaps have them all listed in Custom Data - Access Databases, with file location, size, time stamp, etc. I've done this with PSTs a while back so I assume I can do the same for an MDB? I've searched the forum and came up with a few suggestions but most are either unanswered or over 1 -3 years old and they don't seem like the best approach. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
