Inventory data for is out of sync. A full scan will be forced.

Hello,

I have such messages for about 8 / 10 times for one day.

I know it is a notification about the fact that the Delta scan has not been received correctly.

Can i do something to force only on some of these computers (i know which one are concerned) always a full scan to be done every day and not a Delta.

Thanks a lot.

Deleting node in inventory on console, cannot add back through network scan

I've encountered an issue where if I delete an item from inventory, I cannot retrieve it back via network scan.  It recognizes the IP, but does not add it to unmanaged device or my inventory tab.  I noticed in our SQL database, that the hostname still exist.  I suspect this is the reason why the network scann does not want to put it neither my unmanaged device list nor my inventory.  Also there are a lot of NULL entries in our database.  The database maintenance doe not clear this problem up.  The database we are using is Ms SQL 2008.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Automatically Delete old Computers

So I have been wondering for a while now why I have so many old devices showing up in my inventory. According to this doc (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1188) The "Days to keep inventory scans" is supposed to take care of this, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have mine set to 30 days, but I have machines showing up in inventory with Last Hardware Scan Date of over 6 months ago. Why is this not working or how do I get it to work? Thanks.

Management Gateway Appliance/Reporting Inventory

Hello,

We recently configured a management gateway appliance and the remote control features work well.  My understanding is that once an agent is configured to use the Gateway that client devices outside of our network will report inventory information back to the Gateway then to the core, which I can view in the console.  I've had a computer online but off the corporate network for 2 weeks with and we haven't received any updated inventory information.

If my understanding is correct how often should the external devices be checking into the Gateway with inventory?

Where can I find the setting that controls the frequency of external agents reporting back to the Gateway?

Can anyone point me in the direction of things I should check to fix this?

Thank you,

Need Help Creating Query to Find Computers Without Updated Program

$

Hi everyone,

I'm fresh to operating LANdesk and myself and others in our staff are really racking our brains about how to resolve this. So, being a total n00b, I'll try to explain this as best possible. And please be simple in response! (Anyone have a LANdesk for dummies?)

I'm trying to create a query to find computers that do not have a specific version of a program installed. I figured the simple answer is to just use "not exist" and the title/version of the program I'm looking for.But that doesn't seem to work like that. I can't effectively do a search of all previous versions, because the program can run the new version with or without the old version. We need to find what PC's do not have the program installed so we can make sure to get the program pushed out or get to it by foot.

Thanks!

Inventory Errorscan on extremely long line item

Hello,

I am having an issue with the inventory scan on some of my machines.  The scans all end up in the Errorscan folder.  I have narrowed it down to one item these scans all have in common.  That one line appears to be about 1543 characters long and reads as:

OS - Drivers and Services - Service - (Name:Energy Server Service WILLAMETTE) - Path ="C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\esrv_svc.exe" "--AUTO_START" "--start" "--address" "127.0.0.1" "--port" "49330" "--depend_on_key" "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ESRV_SVC_WILLAMETTE" "--depend_on_value" "run" "--time_in_ms" "--pause" "5000" "--library" "C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_modeler.dll" "--no_pl" "--watchdog" "10" "--watchdog_cpu_usage_limit" "50" "--end_on_error" "--kernel_priority_boost" "--shutdown_priority_boost" "--device_options" " time=no output=w output_folder='C:\ProgramData\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\IntelData' limit_output_by=time output_limit=3600000 output_buffer=1024 il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_process_input.dll','process_input_options.txt' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_system_power_state_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_quality_and_reliability_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\acpi_battery_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\sema_thermal_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\wifi_input.dll' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\devices_use_input.dll','service=yes' il='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\intel_disktrace_input.dll','pause=60000 working_dir=C:\ProgramData\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\IntelData override_existing_tracing=no limit_output_by_filesize_mb=10' os='C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\WILLAMETTE\ESRV\os_counters.txt' "

I noticed that every line item in that section of the SCN file starts off with "OS -"  This scanned item starts off the same way, but it is so long that it continues onto the next line.  My SCN file looks something like this...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

ESRV\acpi_battery_inpu...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

OS - Drivers and Servic...

As a test, I removed the long entry including the part that continues to the next line.  Saved it, moved it back to to the ldscan folder, and watched it successfully import the inventory.

I believe the inventory scan is getting this entry from the machine's registry.  Is there a way to have it ignore a specific registry key from inventory scans just like you can have it ignore specific folders on local drives?

I am running 9.6 SP1.  Errorscan file attached.  Long entry can be found at line 3564

Thank you in advance for any help.

Reg Key check via Landesk Query

$

Hi there,

I got a request to do a query via landesk to check if a regkey is set or not. in our company we use the Landesk Mgmt Suite 2016 Version 10.1.0.168.

I also checked here in the community, but I found nothing that works. The thing is that we don´t got is the LdAppl3.template, only the LdAppl3.template.bak

That is a backup file but the original is missing. So is it possible to write directly in the .ini file?

And how I can setup the query to check all the installed system in Landesk. For me it is not clear.

I will appreciate  each answer cause I´m completely new in this Landesk thing. Or maybe you know a similar article.

Thanks in advance

Random Printout From Serial Thermal Printer

We are trying to troubleshoot why several of our computers with "SNBC BTP-2002NP" thermal receipt printers randomly print out PJL commands.  The printers are connected to  POS computers that connect to a terminal server.  The printer is not installed it is just connected to the com 2 port.  The POS software runs from the terminal server and prints to the com 2 port.  When this happens it causes the application to freeze up on the RD Web Windows Terminal Server for the individuals session.  Does anyone know how LANDesk polls for printers to add them to inventory?  Would LANDesk send the following commands to the com port during inventory to determine information?

12345X@PJL

@PJL INFO ID
@PJL INQUIRE SERIALNUMBER

@PJL INFO PAGECOUNT

@PJL INQUIRE RESOLUTION

LANDESK Inventory Server Error ID 4100

Ran into a huge backlog of scans and errorscans.  New machines were just not showing up.  So, we did some digging.  I found the following in the event logs :

Database exception: SCAAE93.SCN, LDInv.dll

-2147217833

Arithmetic overflow error converting IDENTITY to data type int.

Error comitting on table FILEINFOINSTANCE:   ARITHMETIC OVERFLOW ERROR CONVERTING IDENTITY TO DATA TYPE INT.

Increased column size might be necessary, Thread ID: 2292.

The FileInfoInstance_Idn field is an Int.  And we'd unfortunately run out of room.  We have our database in a cluster so using the CoreDBUtil.exe wasn't an option for us.  We did update the datamart.xml file for the FileInfoInstance table :

<column name="FileInfoInstance_Idn" type="BigInt" identity="Yes" null="No" />

I then fired up Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (my database is named 'LDMS') and ran the following :

USE [LDMS]
GO
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[FileInfoInstance] DROP CONSTRAINT [XPKFileInfoInstance]
GO
DROP INDEX [XIFFileInfoInstIdent] ON [dbo].[FileInfoInstance]
GO
alter table fileinfoinstance alter column FileInfoInstance_Idn bigint;
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[FileInfoInstance] ADD  CONSTRAINT [XPKFileInfoInstance] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[Computer_Idn] ASC,
[FileInfoInstance_Idn] ASC
)WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, SORT_IN_TEMPDB = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ONLINE = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY]
GO
CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX [XIFFileInfoInstIdent] ON [dbo].[FileInfoInstance]

Duplicate Device IDs overwriting Inventory records in Endpoint Manager

$

This article addresses how to resolve a specific issue with inventory records being overwritten due to duplicate device IDs in your environment caused by a misconfigured image or an imaging process that was done without correctly following your internal imaging process. Most likely the LANDesk agent was added to the image or was installed to a machine out of order during a new build.

How to determine if you are having a duplicate device ID issue resulting from the imaging process already including a LANDesk agent

Unfortunately, some of this is going to be you, your admin, or other console users saying that devices are just missing or not displaying in the network view. Noticing this issue may be occurring requires more detective work than a distinct and clear error.

If you are seeing weird behaviors with a batch of similar machines disappearing/reappearing in Inventory, review your Core server ldscan folder

[COREPATH]\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldscan\ErrorScan

When opening the various .scn files (.scn file extension is the OOTB default for EPM, your environment may be configured differently), you will be looking for the following information:

Device ID ={***************************************}

Device Name =***********

Network - TCPIP - Host Name =************.domain

If you see multiple files with matching device IDs but different device name/hostname then you probably have an issue with how the machine was imaged

The reason these items are showing up in ErrorScan is because the core doesn't recognize the information even though it thinks it already has a matching device ID. Prove this by looking at the LANDesk Inventory Server warnings in the Application section of Event Viewer on the core

Run eventvwr.msc

Expand Windows Logs

Click Application

You can filter or sort by Source (this may take a few minutes)

How to resolve duplicate device IDs overwriting inventory records caused by an image with the LANDesk agent

NOTE: As a user with Administrative privileges on the client device

1. STOP all LANDESK related services

2. Delete the following Registry Keys for 32bit clients:

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\LANDesk\Inventory\LogonHistory\Logons

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\SoftwareMonitoring\MonitorLog contents

Delete the following Registry Keys for 64 bit clients:

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\Inventory\LogonHistory\Logons

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\SoftwareMonitoring\MonitorLog contents

3. C:\ProgramData\LANDesk (delete the entire directory and subdirectories, this is a hidden directory)

4. Run Security Scan - look for this line "Sending current settings information to core. Failed: Core has no inventory data for this computer" (this is important to make the inventory scan work, otherwise it will fail and you will see the entry in Event Viewer)

Without this step, I was encountering an error stating "LDISCN32: The inventory server [CORE] did not respond"

5. Open command prompt and run C:\"Program Files (x86)"\LANDesk\LDClient\LDISCN32.EXE /V /F /SYNC

You do not have to wait for Security Scan to finish, it will probably fail anyways until it can properly sync up with the right inventory information

Find SQL Server installations

Hi,

We need to find how many installations of SQL Servers we have in the organization.

I have created a query to find the following:

Computer.Software.Add or remove Programs.Program.Name = Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 or 2008

Query returns all server have these installations but on many of them, there is no SQL Management studio installed but only the SQL tools.

For example, attached is a screenshot of a server that has only the SQL Server configuration manager installed but in the Add remove programs, the SQL Server 2008 R2 seems to be installed.

Is there any way to find what we want?

It is for licensing purposes in order to specify if there is need to purchace more SQL licenses.

Thanks in advance,

Nikos

How does the Query Window pole devices?

$

I ask this because im getting some interesting results from my query window ...

I have a basic query, device / os / last scan or repair date / serial number, so i can sort by last repair date and weed out the devices we no longer have (returned lease machines etc) and resolving why current devices dont report in by comparing to our asset register. A number of these machines from the query window are coming up as being online / remote controllable etc, but they dont actually exist on the network.

Does the query window simply pole the last logged IP for the device and if it gets a response from an agent lists it as online, but doesnt actually confirm the device in the query list matches the poled IP addresses agent? (if that makes sense)

Cheers - Ben

Machines not updating their IP address in inventory

Machines are not updating their IP address, so when I go to remote, scan inventory, etc The task is performed on the wrong machine (the one that really has that ip address). How do I get it to either update it's ip address or use the computer name to base tasks on?

adding extra date fields in inventory

$

I'm trying to add two extra date fields to the inventory details of my computers, one to hold the purchase date and one to hold the warranty until date.

Wen I add the date fields and fill them I use MM/DD/YY to fill in dates.

However at random times the dates I put in get mixed up.

For instance when I put in purchase date 09/06/05  and it gets displayed as 06/09/05

Very confusing and very annoying if you have to insert >100 machines and have to double check every time and you cannot rely on the output of your input.

I'm working on a WinXP Pro 32bit machine with Landesk MS 8.8 SP2 console connected to 8.8 SP2 core server.

My localization is Dutch but I can't see this being the cause as it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Hope you have some tips to solve this.
