MINISCAN.EXE command switches and additional documentation

$

0

Hi folks - in response to the document posted here about MINISCAN and /send, does anyone have any additional information or reference about these switches?

" As of LDMS 8.7, we can send custom data with a miniscan for a Windows client.

The format for this scan is;

"c:\program files\landesk\ldclient\miniscan.exe" "/send=Custom Data - Logged On = Yes"

Where "/send=" is the switch to let miniscan.exe know to include the data that follows in the minscan file. It is important to include the quotes "/send" for the command to work.

The rest of the command line follows the rules for custom data. Remember, this is a snippet of information only, up to 255 characters. "

Thanks!

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

Preface: I'm new to landesk so take it easy on me but please let me know if there are easier ways to do what I'm trying to do

I have multiple cores in my environment and I recently tried to migrate a couple hundred servers from one core to another by pushing a new Server Agent Configuration. The majority seem to have worked but there are several that have not reported their inventory scans to the new core.

After connecting to one of the failed machines I tried to run this to get a full scan uploaded to the core:

LDISCN32.EXE" /NTT=core.domain:5007 /RSS /F /S= /I=core.domain HTTP://core.domain/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /V /sync

In the ldiscn32.log file I see the following error:

LookupAccountName failed '1332'

The scan does end up going to the new core but ends up under the ldscan\ErrorScan directory.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Automatically Delete old Computers

So I have been wondering for a while now why I have so many old devices showing up in my inventory. According to this doc (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1188) The "Days to keep inventory scans" is supposed to take care of this, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have mine set to 30 days, but I have machines showing up in inventory with Last Hardware Scan Date of over 6 months ago. Why is this not working or how do I get it to work? Thanks.

Fail to retrieve Physical CPU count

Hi,

We  encounterer a lot of problems when we want to list the number of Physical CPU of our machines.

My search is based on these fields : Inventory > Processor > « Processor Count » and Inventory > Processor > Features > Cores per Package

I've notice that there's a lot of error when Hyper Threading is activated.

For Example :

Os : Microsoft Windows   Server 2008 R2 Server Enterprise Edition (full installation), 64-bit

Processor : Intel(R) Xeon(R)   CPU           E5630  @ 2.53GHz

Processor Count value : 16

Cores per Package : 16

Hyper-Threading : Yes

Get-WmiObject win32_computersystem | select NumberOfProcessors : 2 ( This is the good value )

This error is present on a lot of our server.

Could you tell me why the processor count has this value and where can I find the true value of the number of physical CPU ?

Thanks

GatherProducts.exe High CPU Utilization and Run Time

$

Has anyone else seen the GatherProducts.exe process run at an average of 45-50% cpu utilization and/or take 25 minutes to run? The gatherproducts.exe log takes about 3 seconds to get to 'Initializing MSI DB', 25 minutes to get to 'Finished initializing MSI DB' and 15 seconds to complete. We are currently a new install of LFMS 9.0 SP3. Any insight is appreciated.

LDAPWHOAMI.EXE -- Bug in LANDesk 9.0 SP3 service???

$

We had a curious thing occur -- I will explain as best I can. Gradually, over the course of a few weeks, many but not all of our workstations (with users logged in) started hammering the hell out of the Domain Controllers in our environment. This resulted over time in bringing a number of them down and increasing congestion over the network. Turns out that ldapwhoami.exe was the culprit and it was repeatedly attempting, hundreds a second, to try to reach an AD OU. The process was running at 40% on the workstation. When the OU was created, apparently authenticated users did not have read or write permissions and it was felt that those rights were not necessary. Once they started dumping users into the OU and those users would log in, ldapwhoami.exe would try to update the inventory but it would fail at that OU and retry continuously (indefinitely). When we gave read permissions to the OU all of our problems went away.

Question is...Is this a bug or would this be attributed to normal behaviour? You would think that after a few failed attempts that ldapwhoami.exe would stop trying until the next inventory scan at least and not run continous on the machine.

ldiscn32.exe crashes every time, even after client reinstallation

ldiscn32.exe crashes every time, locally on one of my Win7x64 client machines.  no ldiscn32.log file is created.  even the /o switch won't produce a log file.

event viewer shows minimal info.  Faulting application/module name: LDISCN32.EXE, version: 9.60.2.111, time stamp xxx.

Event ID =1000, Task Category = (100).  Exception code: 0x40000015

running locally or remotely (via psexec) both return error code 3.  I can run miniscan.exe successfully via psexec which will update the ip in ldconsole, allowing remote control.

I've tried to reinstall the entire client twice but the issue persists.  The client machine seems totally fine outside of ldiscn32...

This is how the wscfg32.log file ends the client install process:

I haven't tried the UninstallWinClient.exe from ldmain yet... but it seems a client re-installation first uninstalls all modules before re-installing... not sure if there's a difference there.

Suggestions?  We're running LDMS 9.6 sp1.

Inventory Failing On 2016 Datacenter Servers: bCriticalError/LookupAccountName Failed '1332'

$

We're on LDMS 2016 SU4. I have inventory failing on two servers. The scans aren't making it into the ldscan folder on the core at all, so nothing is showing up for this server in the ErrorScan folder. Other servers on the same subnet scan in fine, and windows firewall is off (domain, private, and public) on this guy. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the agent, and I get a failure on the inventory scan portion of the agent installation (see below wscfg32 log). The OS on both of these is 2016 Server Datacenter, and these are the only two servers in our environment currently running this OS. Could this possibly be a compatibility issue?

simple database schema map?

$

Anyone have a database schema map for the inventory data? I could have sworn I had one years ago but I can't find any info on here anywhere. Not a complete schema diagram like you can make in SQL, I mean just a spreedsheet or something mapping the inventory common display names to the actual field names. Mostly this is used for creating reports via Crystal, ease of viewing data via MSAccess, etc.

Basically I neede a cleaned-up spreadsheet version of the datamart.xml I guess. Anyone have something like this or am I going to have to make one from scratch?

Device inventory missing applications (.NET)

(LDMS 9.5 SP1) For some of our machines (servers), LANDesk inventory is not showing any .NET framework installed, even though it is and verified installed in the machine's registry.  I have posted some screenshots so you can see what I'm talking about.  Nowhere in the products, packages, or add/remove programs inventory is .NET listed on these servers.

Is there a bug?  We're looking at installing SP2 soon.

Landesk Inventory Cleanup

We currently are running version 8.7 and are getting ready to upgrade to 8.8.  Before I do so, we need to clean up our database.  I have used DBRepair, but it is not doing what I need.  We have machines that were removed from the DB or renamed but the inventory is not updating.  Instead of renaming the existing instance in landesk, it is creating a new one.  If the duplicate instance is removed from landesk, it will reappear.  I need to find a way to remove the instances and get the inventory to update properly.  Any suggestions?

Query to find out .NetFramework installed

I have created a query that selects a group of machines by model and by login user. Out of those machines I wold like to create a report to show the .Netframework installed. I have noticed that the majority of the devices have .NetFramework 2.0 but there are other ones that have different one. I have selected certain colums to show what I need but only .Netframework 2.0 show in the report because that is what I have chosen. What do I need to do to show version of .Netframework.

Thanks in advance!

How to query proxy setting in HKCU

$

All,

We are testing a new proxy and are trying query HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings for a string value - AutoConfigURL.  We have defined a custom data definition in the manage software list for the correct HKCU key and string.  We have verified that it works on some machines where the inventory was ran with the user logged on.

From what I can find on other posts, querying HKCU is next to impossible for a reliable query response.  I have tried some of the sample scripts that copy HKCU keys to HKLM (Printer.vbs) and adapted for our purposes, but it will only work when the logged in user is a local admin.  We have very few people with local admin rights.

I have seen a few posts suggesting you might have to use strasuser.exe but no examples or feedback indicating it worked.

Has anyone successfully queried HKCU?  If so, can you post a sample script/process?

We are running a newly re-built 9.6 sp1 core with over 2000 machines which are almost exclusively Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise.

Disable Inventory Scan?

Is there a way to temporarily disable the Inventory Scan for a group of managed devices?

Inventory data for is out of sync. A full scan will be forced.

Hello,

I have such messages for about 8 / 10 times for one day.

I know it is a notification about the fact that the Delta scan has not been received correctly.

Can i do something to force only on some of these computers (i know which one are concerned) always a full scan to be done every day and not a Delta.

Thanks a lot.
