Query Operator "Like" does not work like in SQL (wildcard %)

Hi

I'm using LANDesk 9.6 SP1 for 3 month now and I realize that the queries are "interpreted" like this:

"Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name"  Like  "programX"

-equals in SQL

"Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name"  Like  "%programX%"

BUT I often want to look for a software called "programX*"

so in SQL I would use

...Like "programX%"

Searching the community gives me this...

Custom Database Queries: How they work, guidelines on creating them, and examples of them in action

HOW TO: Hacking LANDesk Queries

Is it really true that the LANDesk "query builder" should be "simple to use LIKE statements"?

That means, it always uses  "%searchstring%" with the LIKE operator, making it impossible to use "searchstring%" or "%searchstring"?

It's hard to believe. C'mon, it's LANDesk! One of the BIGGEST players in software distribution?

Is there a way I'm not aware of? As I said, I'm a LANDesk beginner ;-)

Thanks

How to troubleshoot Inventory?

Please explain the Inventory process and how to troubleshoot it?

We were trying to use LanDesk 8.8 SP2 to query for Trend OfficeScan.  We were installing updates and wanted to know how many were left.

Well, my computer DEFINITELY has the new version, but the inventory doesn't find my computer.  The query is accurate, because it finds others with the same version.

I went and did a manual inventory on my machine, but it still doesn't show up in the query.

So now I am not trusting the inventory!

I have 666 in total machines, with over 100 (from what I can see) reporting incorrectly.

How do I find out what's wrong?

Thanks,

Scott.....

Inventory Scanner crashing

Hello all,

I've got a group of devices in LANDesk with a recurring inventory scan crash condition. Whenever the inventory scanner is run, it will crash within 5-10 seconds of opening.

Running with the /debug flag doesn't seem to generate any (additional) logs.

uninstallwinclient.exe and agent reinstall doesn't appear to resolve the issue.

MS Visual Studio debug log below, may indicate a User Rights issue? Can't quite tell.

Installing LDClient on Servers with IIS Websites

Hello,

I am having issues with deploying agents to servers that have IIS installed. The initial install seems to complete without error. However, when I try to request an inventory scan/deploy software/etc., I get an error "The remote computer refused the network connection." I researched this error (including copying certificates from the Core, etc.), but didn't come up with anything.

The one commonality between all of these servers is IIS is hosting a website on the servers. When I check the Event Viewer log, I find about 7 errors each time I try to run the scan. The errors all point to "serviceHost.exe" with the faulting module "ntdll.dll."

I'm thinking there must be some permissions issues happening once IIS gets installed. Maybe some certificate conflicts? I've been researching, but I don't see this has been reported. Any help/recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Justus

Bitlocker Recovery Key in Inventory

Hi,

there is a Inventory Property - "Computer"."Mass Storage"."Drive Encryption"."Recovery Key"

2017-05-23 18_34_57-LANDESK® Management Console.png

Unfortunatelly the Inventory Information is not populated by the inventory scanner.

Some of the other informations are collected by the Scanner:

2017-05-23 18_36_34-Inventory - wuta-edv5761.png

So my question is, is there a build in support for reading out the Recovery Key to this Inventory field or do I have to run additional scripts for populating this Inventory Entry?

Thank you, Marco

I was hoping to export them but it does not seem possible. It will Export a Sys file but not an ldms file so nothing can be imported to the new core..

We are going from a 9.5 core to a 2016.3.

Any ideas?

Missing Video Monitor Data

We use the ldms version 9.0. Our Inventory data regarding display informations consists of many wmi details like Manufacturer, Model, Serial Number, etc. But there is no property that shows us if the display is active and in a connected state. But this property is inventored and mentioned in the provLSMClient.mof file:

"[read : ToSubClass, Description("This atribute tells if the monitor is currently in use by the system.")] boolean InUse;"

This value is also provided in the LD_DesktopMonitor wmi class. But it is not processed by the LDISCN32.EXE to the INVDELTA.DAT. So we don't have these propertys in the inventory database and cannot differentiate between active displays and all the other displays that were formerly connected to this device. Some clients have up to 30 displays connected in the past. How do you handle these inaccurate informations?

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to pull IIS information into Inventory?

$

Hey Everyone,

I am pretty new to LanDesk, so bear with me. I am loving LanDesk's Inventory capability. Our developers were wondering if it would be possible to gather which IIS Sites were on which servers. For instance, if I open IIS, navigate to Sites, and see CompanySite1, CompanySite2, etc... they want to have a list of those sites. I found a PowerShell script that will list them out, so if there is a way to incorporate that into the solution, that would work too. I'm just not really sure where to begin after that. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

IP / Name mismatch...DNS problem?

$

We're on LD v8.70.0.109.

The last several months it seems we've had problems with LD preforming an inventory scan.  Which, it appears, has been due to the Inventory service needing to be stopped and restarted.  ( The first time I did this, I bumped the retry value to as high as it would go, if I recall correctly. )

But one of the things I noticed back then, and see that we still have...is some sort of DNS issue.

I thought that DNS was supposed to be automatically updated.  Yet our DNS server has multiple computer names associated with one IP address.  Not every machine, mind you, but some.  Some have two (2), some have three (3), and at least one I just saw has four (4).

I also checked Reverse Lookup.  And the record that it had, had the correct computer name, with an address that didn't match ANY of the multiple address records.

Consequently...I'm really confused.

I went looking in this forum to see if anyone else was having a similar problem.  I found a discussion in Remote Control I believe it was, named: IP / Name mismatch.

One of the things mentioned was making sure that the "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" checkbox was checked in Advanced of the TCP/IP properties.  I myself have always made sure that this was checked, and have assumed that my co-workers have done likewise.  But because I saw it mentioned, I asked one of my co-workers.  He said that he always does on a server, but hasn't necessarily been doing so on a client, because..."It's supposed to do it automatically.".

The thread also mentioned about setting the agent to update the inventory db on an ip change, to keep the LD db current.  I've gone looking, but can't seem to find where I would do this in 8.7.  Perhaps it's only in 8.8?

Is there a way to write a script so I could easily check all of our clients to see if the update DNS box has been checked?  All these bad DNS entries have me really concerned.  How do I fix my DNS?

As usual, any thoughts, ideas, suggestions are welcome...thanks in advance.

Clients not reporting Inventory Scans

Ok so I have a wierd little problem with LDMS 9.0SP2. A number of client machines are failing to report back to the inventory server correctly. Machines are powered on and running Security scans fine, but the inventory doesn't update. For example, it is showing machine with Last Startup Time of over 3 months ago. I know these machines have been restarted multiple times since then, but I can not get them to refresh their inventory. I have forced inventory scans, updated agents, but nothing seems to work. There is also a couple hundred machines that have little or no inventory data. Why is this happening and how can I fix this?

Having machines that dont report their inventory correctly makes LDMS pretty useless, so your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

about the inventory scan process

$

Dear all,

Could any one help me with the inventory scan process. I will appreciate if there is a "process diagram" of what steps or what tasks will be running on the LanDesk core and client.

I have all the day reading about it but I still have some questions and some difficult to finish the puzzle

First inventory scan on computer --> a scan file named  "invdelta.dat" will be created on C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\LDClient\Data\. (I don't understand the role of LDAPPL3.ini file during software scans is it a configuration file for the SoftMon.exe tool or it will contain all identified software in the managed comptuter).

From now on, each time the LDISCN32.exe starts a new inventory scan, it will just update the already created file "invdelta.dat" . Now, I don't know if the tool "LDISCN32.exe" will detect if there are modifications in this file so it will send the scan file to the landesk core or it will send a scan file without checking. Does the scan file to send to LanDesk core will contain just modified data? and when it will be sended (Once the inventory scan is done or we can configure this parameter to be once a day).

MINISCAN.EXE command switches and additional documentation

Hi folks - in response to the document posted here about MINISCAN and /send, does anyone have any additional information or reference about these switches?

" As of LDMS 8.7, we can send custom data with a miniscan for a Windows client.

The format for this scan is;

"c:\program files\landesk\ldclient\miniscan.exe" "/send=Custom Data - Logged On = Yes"

Where "/send=" is the switch to let miniscan.exe know to include the data that follows in the minscan file. It is important to include the quotes "/send" for the command to work.

The rest of the command line follows the rules for custom data. Remember, this is a snippet of information only, up to 255 characters. "

Thanks!

Database errors causing problems with inventory

Hello.

We recently upgraded to 8.8 (and we have also installed service pack 1) and have since had the following error messages show up in the event log. The first one says this: Inventory server detected {89FF8FEC-C909-4443-9177-B92CC2A72C29} as a duplicated device ID

I looked in the forums and have not found the same error message so I am stumped on that one.

The second error message says this: Scan file from {57534A2D-3758-374A-9124-C78C74E566D7} contains an invalid Product Definition.  Make sure the scanner is using a current ldappl3.ini file.

I have tried to push out the new ldappl3.ini file by going to the Software License Monitoring tool and using the "Make Available to Clients" button but I am still getting the same error. It is generating a lot of files in the ErrorScan folder. I went to the client in question and was able to browse to the ldmain\ldlogon share via a web browser and get to and download the Ldapple3.ldz file so I don't think it is a connectivity issue. Also I checked the Mime types in IIS on the core and .ldz is listed.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

Computer Location Field: LDAP Path not updating?

I leave the computer location field empty on our agent configuration so that the AD LDAP path poulates that field.

However, after moving some PCs to different OUs recently, even after manually forcing a /F /SYNC scan on the machines in question, their Computer Location (ldap path) details have not updated.

Q1 Does this field not update automatically?

Q2 How can i force an update?  I notice on occasion (whether initial client install of scan i a mnot sure) there is the process ldapwhoami.exe which seems a likely candidate - how do i use it?

Thanks

Last Software Scan Date is NOT updating

I have an issue where several thousand machines are not updating their Last Software Scan Date value after a full scan is performed.

Using a LANDesk script to force a full scan, the following command runs:

REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\LDISCN32.EXE<qt/> /NTT=%server%:5007 /S="%server%" /I=HTTP://%server%/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /NOUI /NOCD /F /SYNC

On almost 4000 machines, 3500 report as successfully scanned.

When I run a report or a query on LAST Software Scan Date - the date does not change and remains between 10 and 30 days ago. Other "Last scanned" fields update with the current date.

1. Why is this date field not updating?

2. Can I be reasonably sure that Software scans are not occuring?

3. What can I do to make sure that software scans are occuring and that the date field gets updated?
