Does anyone know of a way to capture in inventory the SSID a computer is connected to?

I need to get rid of encoded-like characters in Custom Data retrieved from the registries
Hi,
I am trying to retrieve the TimeZone information from HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation using Custom Data. Indeed, it does it's job, but it also retrieves some encoded-like characters appended to the information I need (e.g. : "GMT Standard Time b ?< O? ?x? ? ?<"). Any idea if I can remove those characters?
Thank you!

Another duplicate computer question
When I reload some of our computers, they are showing up in our inventory twice. The comptues will have the same name and MAC address, but different Device ID#. I have LDMS set up to remove duplicates base on "Both device names and MAC addresses", but am still getting duplicate computes with the same name and MAC address, but with different ID numbers.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Is there a way to query a file with a specific hash key ?
We have packged an application using another packaging utillity. This utillity redirects the application to a key server. We are trying to find which customers have these "Keyed" applications and schedule an uninstall. I was able to download an application that showed me the hash file values and I know they are different from the original and consistent across the board.
I would like to Scan all the PC's for the executable file with the exact hash key for the keyed version. Is there anyway to accomplish this?
cannot run Inventory and Vulscan on Client.
I have been working on the our new landesk core server 9.5 for almost 3 days to get the inventory and vulscan running on the client.
Currently I have already 5000+ client on this core. The problem is that I cannot when I run Inventory it displays an error message that LDSCN32.exe, the inventory Server did not responds. even though the service is running on the core server. I have even tried all the resolution found over the net to check if port 5007. Run Telnet, uninstall and reinstall inventory server but still got same error.
while the vulscan Just keep on looking for an update on the core server.
One thing have notice on the new core is that most of the files on the LDLogon directory was missing, I have idea on what had happen that those files were deleted. when I have check the recycle found no deleted files.
I could still login to the management suite application and do thing like create agent, create queries, policies,
Is there a solution to get this working?
Any suggestions or help would highly be appreciated...
Thanks...
Screen resolution in inventory
Hello.
I'm working on an issue where I'd like to collect screen resolution information for several devices, but I quickly found that the "Video" -> "Resolution" data is very unreliable. In fact, almost all devices report a "1024 x 768" resolution which I know is incorrect.
Is it a known issue, or is there a way to get reliable data for this? Preferably a screen resolution value per connected monitor, but a correct resolution for the main monitor would be helpful as well.
We're using LD9.5 SP2.
Thanks in advance.
Collect Certificate Store info
I'd like to be able to extend the LD inventory scan to include certificate information listed under Certificates (Local Computer)\Trusted Publishers\Certificates
or Certificates (Local Computer)\Trusted Root Certificates\Certificates
As part of a domain migration, PC's will be receiving a new Root CA cert and I'd like to be able to verify the PC's received the new certificate.
The only way I know to view the installed certificates is using the Certificate MMC.
Has anyone else tried collecting this type of information?
Thanks.

LoginName on Windows 7 64-bit
Is anyone else having problems with the Inventory Scanner incorrectly reporting LoginName on 64-bit Windows 7? I think I figured out why this is happening, but when I checked this forum to see if anyone else reported the problem I can't find any posts.
It seems the Inventory Scanner is reporting the contents of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\DefaultUserName
which isn't used by Windows 7/64.
I found some postings on the Internet which suggest using this regkey instead:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\LastLoggedOnUser
I've opened a support case, but I'm still looking for confirmation that I'm right, so that this is treated as a bug.

Query to find Windows Firewall Status?
Hello All,
We are in the process of troubleshooting an issue with our Group Policy that controls the Windows Firewall and need to find machines that have the Firewall turned on and which have it turned off. Our Policy is set so that when a PC is on the managed network, it will turn the Firewall 'Off', using the Domain Profile, but when a PC is connected to an unmanaged network, it turns it 'On', using the Standard Profile. We have one program that has brought this to our attention but only a few departments use this particular program and I'm thinking the issue is more widespread than what we're seeing.
I don't necessarily need to know if the service itself is started or stopped, just if it's On/Off. Does anyone know of a way I can query to find out if the Firewall is On/Off and if it's using the Domain or non-domain settings?
Thanks!

LDISCN32.EXE Times Out On Clients
We're on LANDesk 9 SP2 and I seem to have a problem lately where Inventory Scans are timing out on Windows XP client computers. I'm getting an error in the Application log on affected clients...
"Event ID 1002"
"Application Hang"
"Hanging application LDISCN32.EXE, version 9.0.2.120, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000."
We first noticed the problem because we use a command in our OS deployment process to send a full inventory scan after a machine is re-imaged. On some OS deployment jobs we started to see clients that would hang and never complete the Inventory Scan section of the script. I had to terminate the ldiscn32.exe process in Task Manager. If I run an Inventory Scan from the Start Menu shortcut I see that Hardware Inventory is complete, Software Inventory runs to about 80% on the progress bar and then just stays there, having processed around 37,400 files. (The actual number of files processed varies.)
I'm not sure how many of our client computers are affected, but I suspect it's quite a few because I see a number of inventory records that have not seen an updated software inventory in many weeks, even though the machines are connected to the network every day. I don't think it's a problem on the core because my ldscan folder is not filling up with SCN files, and some clients are sending inventory successfully.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LDISCN32.exe
Hi
Apologies for what might be a very simple question...
I am having issues with a number of devices not updating in the inventory. I have tried running a manual run of of LDISCN32.exe with the switches /F /L /V (i a have also tried various other swithces) but i can see no evidence of a log file or error report? also I can see no evidence of the scan file being passed back to the server. I am sure I'm just not looking in the right plave for error logging?
On a seperate note these devices do not apply policy, when process runs it identifies a policy is required but does not execute its application. See attached image.
Thanks in advance
Remove LANDesk computer objects
I am working on trying to ensure my LANDesk database stays in sync with my Active Directory computer objects. Currently our process for retiring machines requires the technicians to delete the Active Directory computer object, and then go into LANDesk and remove the associated computer object.
I know that you can set the server to automatically delete objects after x days, but due to our installation being very new and our management gateway not being completely configured, we don't want to delete LANDesk computer objects that might still be active machines, but just don't connect to our VPN consistently enough to do an inventory scan.
Is possible that when we delete the active directory object, that a maintenance task simply scans Active Directory to retrieve the current list of computers, then compares it to the inventories in the database and deletes machines that don't have an Active Directory computer object? I am guessing that a script would work for this task, but if it is possible without having to script something, that would be even better.
Add registry info via a custom script??
I'm trying to create a custom script to add a registry entry to the RunOnce key. The problem I'm having is the amount of quotes I require in order for it to run properly. No matter what combination of quotes I use, whether it be <qt/> or ", I don't get the end result I need, which is an entry in the RunOnce key that looks like this: "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\miniscan.exe" "/send= Custom Data - Lock Status = Unknown".
Here's the script:
[MACHINES]
REMEXEC0=C:\Windows\System32\reg.exe add HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce /v MiniScan /t REG_SZ /d <qt/>C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\miniscan.exe<qt/> "/send= Custom Data - Lock Status = Unknown", SYNC
Inventory service on server stops
I've noticed that every couple of days, the inventory service on the server stops working. I can manually start it and everything will work for a few more days but it will just stop again. I checked the event viewer logs and found:
Database exception: SCA7F1C.SCN, LDInv.dll
-2147467259
Data provider or other service returned an E_FAIL status.
Error comitting on table LD_SCHEDULED_TASKS: DATA PROVIDER OR OTHER SERVICE RETURNED AN E_FAIL STATUS.
Increased column size might be necessary, Thread ID: 7536.
How can I resolve this? I'm running LDMS 9.0SP2 on Windows2k8R2, database is running on Windows2k3R2 with MSSQL 2005. Thanks
amtscanner.exe runtime error during inventory scan
I am getting this error whenever the inventory scan runs, whether it is from a local client starting the scan, the login mini-scan or a scan request from the console
I have temporarily re-named amtscanner.exe to .old & the scan now runs without error.
all recent critical & most important / high windows updates are applied
LDMS 9.5 with latest agent. Also tried re-installing the agent, but same results.
MINISCAN.EXE command switches and additional documentation
Hi folks - in response to the document posted here about MINISCAN and /send, does anyone have any additional information or reference about these switches?
" As of LDMS 8.7, we can send custom data with a miniscan for a Windows client.
The format for this scan is;
"c:\program files\landesk\ldclient\miniscan.exe" "/send=Custom Data - Logged On = Yes"
Where "/send=" is the switch to let miniscan.exe know to include the data that follows in the minscan file. It is important to include the quotes "/send" for the command to work.
The rest of the command line follows the rules for custom data. Remember, this is a snippet of information only, up to 255 characters. "
Thanks!
LDISCN32.exe command switches
Is there a document explaining the command line switches for LDISCN32.exe? I can do a "/?" but it doesn't explain what "/O /T /Q" do.
