I should have done my research before starting on the project to install a rollup core because these requirements kill it outright.
We have one light core and 4 dark cores. The cores are all in different security zones. We were trying to have one server we could go to to get reports out for our entire enterprise. Unfortunately, this isn't possible because of the port requirements of the rollup core.
Hopefully, LANDesk is working on including this functionality into their light core/dark core scenario.
The ports required for a rollup core are a complete non-starter when each of your cores are in a different security zone. Poking holes for port 135, 137, 138, 139 and 445 are a no go across security boundaries.
Light core/dark cores scenario promotes good security, but rollup core scenario is one big pile of risk that can't be accepted by any security aware organization with a fairly complicated network.
Such a shame. Guess I will have to continue creating 5 sets of reports.
Also, I highly recommend that LANDesk admins add the rollup core required ports to the master LDMS required ports list at http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1591 That all of the ports required by LDMS aren't listed there caused me a bit of grief in this project.
