Bitlocker Recovery Key in Inventory

$

Hi,

there is a Inventory Property - "Computer"."Mass Storage"."Drive Encryption"."Recovery Key"

2017-05-23 18_34_57-LANDESK® Management Console.png

Unfortunatelly the Inventory Information is not populated by the inventory scanner.

Some of the other informations are collected by the Scanner:

So my question is, is there a build in support for reading out the Recovery Key to this Inventory field or do I have to run additional scripts for populating this Inventory Entry?

Thank you, Marco

How to get inventory data on an Outlook Plugin?

$

I'm trying to find out which version of a particular Outlook plugin (Cisco Meetingplace) my clients have installed. I've found the file, buried deep in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ADDINS\mp4ol2240.dll. The version of this file should tell me which version they're running. However, I can't figure out how to get Landesk to report on that. I've looked in the ldappl3.template and tried to figure that out, but no dice. I've also looked in Software License Monitoring, but it doesn't have that file scanned. Anyone have any ideas?

Add entire registry key to inventory - not just single value

$

Hello.

Is it possible to add an entire registry key to the inventory instead of just a single value?

Example:

Today I have the following in my LdAppl3.ini file which is working:

;Some data to determine if a machine needs to be rebooted

KEY=HKLM, SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager, PendingFileRenameOperations, Custom Data - Security Scan - Pending File Rename

But I'd also like to add the "VulscanReboot" information since it's my experience that the "PendingFileRenameOperations" is not as reliable in Windows Server 2008 as in 2003. My problem is that "VulscanReboot" is a key with dynamic values below that that are named after the patch that requieres a reboot so I don't relly know the name of that value.

I've tried to add the following, but none of them seems to work.

KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\VulscanReboot, , Custom Data - Security Scan - VulscanReboot

KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\VulscanReboot, ? , Custom Data - Security Scan - VulscanReboot

KEY=HKLM, SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\VulscanReboot, * , Custom Data - Security Scan - VulscanReboot

I'm using the /O parameter to save the inventory scan to a local file so I can see what it submits to the CORE, so it's not a matter of making the change available or allowing an unknown item because it's not even in the local file

Thanks in advance.

/Michael

Hi All,

I would like to add the printer, ip phone, network switch, etc as a inventory to manage. I know I can't manage those devices actually, the purpose to doing this is for reporting only.

When I add the device on the console manaually, I can select the type of device to other, but when I saved to finish adding, the type of device switch back to "Computer". How can I keep the type of device as other?

Hi,

i'm trying to make a WMI query at the "inventory" - "user defined data". With WMI Explorer i got the following values:

Name Space: Root\CIMV2

Class: Win32_PnPEntity

Instance: KPCI-488 GPIB Interface

Caption: KPCI-488 GPIB Interface

In Landesk i have:

Name Space

Class Name

Display Object

Property Name

Display Name

Does anyone know where i have to insert the individual "WMI values" in the "Landesk Property box"? "Name Space" and "Class" is evident, but the remaining...

Many thanks for your help.

Collecting inventory information on Office macros

Greetings!  We are starting a project to migrate to Office 365, and one of the requests that has come to my team is reporting on which users have Office macros and add-ins.

Does anyone know if that information is collected by LDMS inventory agent, and if so, where it's stored?  Has anyone else ever created custom data collection for data like this?

LANDesk Agent high CPU Usage (ldiscn32.exe).

Ports for LDMS 2016

Hi,

Do you know if the ports list is the same as 9.6 ?

I believe I have a rogue database

$

So I recently install Ivanti Endpoint Manager 2017.1 on a server that previously hosted LANDesk Management Suite 2016, and while our SQL admin created the new database on a separate Virtual Hard Disk (which is still active and gets written to), I noticed a secondary database located on my Core OS drive (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA). The database is just named "LANDesk.mdf", but it's already reached 7GB in size. Both our SQL admin and myself are puzzled as to what this database if for, why it's being consistently updated, and what is updating it.

This is an issue, because it's draining my hard drive storage on the Core, and if it's constantly writing to it, then those are vital resources that are being utilized.

Does anyone know what this database may be utilized for? It can't be a remnant from LANDesk 2016, because that wouldn't explain why it's being constantly updated. Why would Ivanti be using both the configured database that's on a separate drive and this other database? More importantly, how do I rid myself of it safely (if I can)?

Since I couldn't find anything regarding "database" or "SQL" in the places, I'm taking a guess and placing it in the "Inventory" place.

Identify Office Add-ins

$

Hello,

We are in the process of deploying Office 2016 to our devices and have seen a few issues with add-ins from time to time.  I am trying to determine the best way to identify add-ins that are installed for the office products, in an effort to minimize potential issues.  I may have missed it out there, or I'm just not searching correctly, but does anyone know or have a way on how to determine this?

Any help would be appreciated.

2016.3 SU3 is the version that we are on.

Thanks!

Duplicate Device IDs overwriting Inventory records in Endpoint Manager

$

This article addresses how to resolve a specific issue with inventory records being overwritten due to duplicate device IDs in your environment caused by a misconfigured image or an imaging process that was done without correctly following your internal imaging process. Most likely the LANDesk agent was added to the image or was installed to a machine out of order during a new build.

How to determine if you are having a duplicate device ID issue resulting from the imaging process already including a LANDesk agent

Unfortunately, some of this is going to be you, your admin, or other console users saying that devices are just missing or not displaying in the network view. Noticing this issue may be occurring requires more detective work than a distinct and clear error.

If you are seeing weird behaviors with a batch of similar machines disappearing/reappearing in Inventory, review your Core server ldscan folder

[COREPATH]\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldscan\ErrorScan

When opening the various .scn files (.scn file extension is the OOTB default for EPM, your environment may be configured differently), you will be looking for the following information:

Device ID ={***************************************}

Device Name =***********

Network - TCPIP - Host Name =************.domain

If you see multiple files with matching device IDs but different device name/hostname then you probably have an issue with how the machine was imaged

The reason these items are showing up in ErrorScan is because the core doesn't recognize the information even though it thinks it already has a matching device ID. Prove this by looking at the LANDesk Inventory Server warnings in the Application section of Event Viewer on the core

Run eventvwr.msc

Expand Windows Logs

Click Application

You can filter or sort by Source (this may take a few minutes)

How to resolve duplicate device IDs overwriting inventory records caused by an image with the LANDesk agent

NOTE: As a user with Administrative privileges on the client device

1. STOP all LANDESK related services

2. Delete the following Registry Keys for 32bit clients:

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\LANDesk\Inventory\LogonHistory\Logons

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\SoftwareMonitoring\MonitorLog contents

Delete the following Registry Keys for 64 bit clients:

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intel\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\Common Api\UniqueID

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\Inventory\LogonHistory\Logons

          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\WinClient\SoftwareMonitoring\MonitorLog contents

3. C:\ProgramData\LANDesk (delete the entire directory and subdirectories, this is a hidden directory)

4. Run Security Scan - look for this line "Sending current settings information to core. Failed: Core has no inventory data for this computer" (this is important to make the inventory scan work, otherwise it will fail and you will see the entry in Event Viewer)

Without this step, I was encountering an error stating "LDISCN32: The inventory server [CORE] did not respond"

5. Open command prompt and run C:\"Program Files (x86)"\LANDesk\LDClient\LDISCN32.EXE /V /F /SYNC

You do not have to wait for Security Scan to finish, it will probably fail anyways until it can properly sync up with the right inventory information

Agentless scan configuration

Hello,

I am new to Ivanti products, so please excusse my shallow knowledge.

My goal is to make a network scan on a virtual network witch only virtual machines on it without any agents installed on the client PCs. On the Windows server I´ve got Ivanti Management Console installed. I´ve already made a scan of unmanaged devices, which showed all the devices in network.

But should I do, if I want to see more informations of all devices? I´ve tried the agentless scan on the subnet, but with no results. I´ve followed instruction on how to make an agentless scan.

Can you please give an advice what should I do?

Thank you for your help

I have created a query that selects a group of machines by model and by login user. Out of those machines I wold like to create a report to show the .Netframework installed. I have noticed that the majority of the devices have .NetFramework 2.0 but there are other ones that have different one. I have selected certain colums to show what I need but only .Netframework 2.0 show in the report because that is what I have chosen. What do I need to do to show version of .Netframework.

Thanks in advance!

LDAPWHOAMI.EXE -- Bug in LANDesk 9.0 SP3 service???

$

We had a curious thing occur -- I will explain as best I can. Gradually, over the course of a few weeks, many but not all of our workstations (with users logged in) started hammering the hell out of the Domain Controllers in our environment. This resulted over time in bringing a number of them down and increasing congestion over the network. Turns out that ldapwhoami.exe was the culprit and it was repeatedly attempting, hundreds a second, to try to reach an AD OU. The process was running at 40% on the workstation. When the OU was created, apparently authenticated users did not have read or write permissions and it was felt that those rights were not necessary. Once they started dumping users into the OU and those users would log in, ldapwhoami.exe would try to update the inventory but it would fail at that OU and retry continuously (indefinitely). When we gave read permissions to the OU all of our problems went away.

Question is...Is this a bug or would this be attributed to normal behaviour? You would think that after a few failed attempts that ldapwhoami.exe would stop trying until the next inventory scan at least and not run continous on the machine.

Report only what shows in "Programs and Features" on a workstation?

$

We have LANDesk 9.6SP1.

One of the things that is very helpful for our technicians is to print a report for a workstation that lists only the installed products as shown in the Programs and Features on the workstation.  (In other words, if you sit down at a workstation and then open Control Panel - Programs and Features, you see the list of "installed programs".)  This is one of the more helpful reports for our techs when they need to re-setup a crashed computer and they know what programs to reinstall for that use.

In the LANDesk console, I figured the way to do this was to create a column set since in there you can find the "Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name" item.  I mean, that seems to be the one that makes sense to accomplish this.

However, the resulting information is displaying significantly more items than the list of installed programs as shown in the Programs and Features on the workstation.

For example, when I display the "Computer"."Software"."Add or Remove Programs"."Program"."Name" items for my device in the LANDesk Console, it returns 142 items!  And within this list, I have 17 items that begin with the words "Microsoft Office...".  However, if I sit at my computer and open the list of installed programs under the Programs and Features, the list is only 52 items long, and I have only a single item for Microsoft Office in the list.

How can we only display the "actual" list of installed programs as shown under the Programs and Features on each workstation?

I keep thinking I'm missing something obvious, but as of yet, it escapes me how to do this simple task so I have to swallow my pride and ask for help.

Setting up a query to search for a registry key

Hello All,

I would like to setup a query to search for a certain registry key on my systems on the network. What's the best way to do this?

Query for different versions of Internet Explorer

$

I've read the past threads on this, what few there were, but was unable to locate an answer that worked.

When I attempt to query for IE versions, Utilizing the Custom Data, or the Product/Name functions, I get a jumbled response.  It brings back pretty much everything in the computer software inventory.

I need to be able to differiniate between IE 7 and IE 8 but can not get it to run correctly and bring back what i am asking it for.  I can get it to bring back 8 only. but not 7 and 8 nor, more perfably, everything but 8.

After establishing the quert to bring back the above, I would tack on it further statements that will bring it back for a particular subnet as well.  I've managed to do this for other programs, such as Lotus and Adobe, but IE isnt' performing the same... I must assume this is because it's imbedded into the OS correct?

Thanks for any help you can provide scripting the correct logic for this function.

How to troubleshoot Inventory?

$

Please explain the Inventory process and how to troubleshoot it?

We were trying to use LanDesk 8.8 SP2 to query for Trend OfficeScan.  We were installing updates and wanted to know how many were left.

Well, my computer DEFINITELY has the new version, but the inventory doesn't find my computer.  The query is accurate, because it finds others with the same version.

I went and did a manual inventory on my machine, but it still doesn't show up in the query.

So now I am not trusting the inventory!

I have 666 in total machines, with over 100 (from what I can see) reporting incorrectly.

How do I find out what's wrong?

Thanks,

Scott.....
